Default Can anyone id this engine sound? Thx

Can anyone id this engine sound? Started a couple of days ago but gotten louder. Haven't made it to the shop yet. No codes or loss of power or increase /decrease in sound at speeds. Thanks.

So, are are you taking it to a shop or fixing this yourself?

If this were my car, I'd take the belt off and start it and see what you hear. Noise gone = something run by the belt needs help. Or you may more clearly hear that it's the timing chain flopping around. Or does the noise change when you actuate the clutch?

don't have a garage so diy is not an option.
I did not hear the noise change nor is there any discernable effect on driving - drives the same as before, the rpm's don't bounce, idle is steady. thx

Can you do any work or diagnosis at home? If not, your best bet is a shop.

Not much us keyboard wrenchers can do about a noise from this far in cyberspace.

I've got the same noise. Had the AC compressor replaced at the end of last summer, the damn thing has already crapped out again.
