(Thread Starter) |   Not Ranked : 0 score  Cracked windshield :( ImageUploadedByTapatalk1369610332.978370.jpg So i was on the nj turnpike and all of a sudden i hear a pop sound, a rock flew up from the truck in front of me and cracked my windshield, i have n.c insurance and they do not cover glass :/ so if falls under comprehensive which it a $500 deductible, so i speak with safe lite auto glass what ever its called and they gave me a cash quote of $330 for a new one installed with the rain sensor and stuff. Which is better then paying insurance $500 for a $300 job. Question is... Is that price right? Seems like it just wanted to see if anyone has gotten a better deal oh and i also changed my comprehensive deductible down to $0 so i will never have to pay for a windshield again.. | Not Ranked : 0 score Yeah that seems about right, I just had mine replaced and I don't have rain sensors. Insurance covered it but the glass shop quoted me something like $280, so $330 seems reasonable with rain sensors

| Not Ranked : 0 score i've heard some issues with safelite glass. waves and such. had the dealer do mine, of course they just have joe blow come in and do the work. they used Pilkington glass and i couldn't have been happier with the quality of the glass. the replacement actually had a grey tint look to it from the front, and everything matched oem with one bonus. the upper part of the window was tinted already. the kicker was the tint blended very well and wasn't too dark or look like complete crap compared to some aftermarket glass i've seen. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score From my experience, I'd just pay safe lite. They do it on scene and u don't have to worry about playing phone tag with your insurance agency. You were not at fault but usualy you need to do a police report for any insurance claims too( It may vary company to company tho) , best of luck to you bud, save yourself a headache and just get the replacement in my opinion. |
