(Thread Starter) |   Not Ranked : 0 score  Mazdaspeedjay is becoming a civilian again Hello everyone. First I'm glad this forum is still around and the only one LOL but I do remember when this site was first around. As some know and others don't I worked in the car industry including Mazda Dealerships and for several performance shops as a tech. before I went into the military in 2008. I was going through some of my old post from years ago on here today and first want to APOLOGIZE to you guys because I noticed looking back I had plans to contribute to this site by means of projects I had planned, support for you guys from someone that worked at a dealer but was a car enthusiast like you guys, and other things on here for projects to give back and all of a sudden there were crickets..... I couldn't join the Marine Corps when I graduated high school in 2001 because I had to take care of my mother who was ill. Well she passed away in 2007 and after that I just wasn't the same and ended up in some bad times. Well in 2008 I decided to walk away from the car industry, everything I knew, and pursue a life long dream to become a Marine and I wanted to be in the infantry. My friends and Family all told me I was crazy for joining the Marines at the age of 25 and walking away from a good career. Even more crazy for picking infantry. So for the last 5 and a 1/2 years that's where I've been.... being a machine gunner in the Marine Corps and between the last three deployments barely spending anytime home between field ops for work ups and deployments I haven't had a lot of free time but I'm about to be done and decided not to re enlist and will be coming back to the civilian sector. I am amazed at how much this site has grown and the support and projects out there cause I remember when it was a few guys trying to pull every once of power out of a few bolt on's and some drag slicks. But I still got the my good ol' Mazdaspeed3 and when I went to go trade in my CX-7 for a CX-5 for my wife the dealer noticed my car and when I asked what they'd give me for a trade in value I laughed at their offer and said no thanks I'd rather keep it but you can still take this CX-7 off my hands. So I'm looking forward to what the future holds and getting back to my speed3 project I put on hold 5 years ago when I left. If you read all this thanks lol and looking forward to what the civilian life will hold and hopefully being able to meet some new people at a meet when I move back up to Maryland. Sparrow likes this.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I know man it feels like I'm light years out of the loop. Fully built engines and big turbo's builds. I remember right before I left in 2008 I got to beta test the COBB access port and just seeing where tuning is alone with these cars I'm blown away. I am looking forward to starting my project back up again and picking up where I left off so I've been doing a lot of reading on here and trying to catch up on everything. Just glad to see all these guys doing big things with these cars and the support out there for it.

 | Not Ranked : 0 score Congrats on a successful military career, my friend. It may not mean a lot coming from an Airman but thanks for your service. I have two buddys that are army infantry so I get the feeling of how bad it sucks. Going on my second deployment in not even three years here shortly. But good luck with the speed3 build. I'll be sure to sub so I can keep up with the progress. |
