I am a little hesitant due to that fact that it isn't working but isn't everything displayed on the HU? And if that's the case the lcd wouldn't be very useful IMO.

True, but as wassup said, it should work and if thats the case then it should. I mean to me the other ones work (look at Darksun and Bioevolve) both of theirs work. Looks kinda weird with it all blank cept for the temperature stuff.

oh yeah on the hu there is a clock and obviously radio station display...its redundant obviously but still.

seriously im not here to scare anyone and by no means use me as the yard stick for this install...i fucken suck at electronics so I wouldnt put that i fumbled something up passed me.

im still waiting for wassup or someone else to do theirs so i can see what i need to do.... gotta remember i seem to be the first and only one posting about this hu ....... and it isnt 100% the same as darksun because when aaron sent me his software for igo8 it wouldnt take....only after he modified it it would boot up the gps software. (still need maps to read thought)

I just saw your post, and I am new to this forum. btw if you check out my post on the other forum you know. I got the same unit as your from dabears GB. It's seem the one we got its a caska 3035 with a faulty firmware. The lcd and illumiation would never work, Its not the harness and wiring, because I got a newer model which is the ca3635 that I plug in with the older harness, everything works perfect. now my older unit just sitting in my room collecting dust. Do you think you will be able to get the newer firmware from them? I know we can flash the firmware since I remove the front faceplate and found a SD card slot inside the unit.

this is a 3035g , thats what the bar code says on the bottom of my unit.

so i wont pressume to know if it does work or not on the display....to me it doesnt make enough of a difference to not have wanted it, but everyone has their limits.

in rerality the only thing I cant see is mpg/avg...but actually i haz a dh so i can lol , clock the radio has one so i got it and radio stations well..shit is on the display.

in the end its a cosmetic thing i guess.

but please, anyone that has the unit try it out cuz I am no expert

ehh there is a way to update the firm ware with the DSS company which is the firmware mine had but after reading yo better be able to speak spanish. they have you download software to your PC and pop the Sd card in there.

Just an update, the first units that shipped were caska, we have since transferred manufacturers and a new batch is being made. I have one of the preproduction units without IPOD interface or CANbus integration (top screen). It looks and works great and sounds amazing. I will have pics up soon and the production batch will have canbus and ipod integration.

the issues that I have are

a)left side of display still no go
b)illumination of buttons needs to be synched with headlights
c)gps software is all done for igo8 but the mpas wont recognize

I paid for my unit today. I should be getting a newer one as that was my restricting in buying. However Lenny never fear! Once I get mine, I'll try my best to help ya out.

For the illumination I am thinking to hook it up as if you were a regular aftermarket deck (thus 1 non-plug and play thing).

For the GPS i'll get mine and work with you on that as well to get it working

For the LCD not working, that from what it sounds like is a firmware limitation. IF somehow I can get the firmware the newer units have (I probably will not be taking mine apart for fear of fucking it up), BUT if i can find a way through the manufacturer I'll see if I can get that for you so we can fix you up.

yeah illumination is just as simple as figuring out which is the wire on the hu and hooking it up to a headlight wire/dimmer switch w/e.

the gps ..all i need is to copy someone s formatted igo8 sd card that is compatible with my hardware

and the lcd thing, i personally dont care about but we can see if we can call that firmware bullshit thing

i aint sweating...especially since i am gonna feast tonight and my friends tina s house

so you did get the lights to work? Did you try what i told you. there is a red wire on the stock harness that has no pin going into it from the after market hu you can tap tha tfor a 12v sourse

the illumination does work if u do this:


turn the key to on position but dont start the car, let the hu power up....and let the radio or w/e mode its on power up also(not just the song and dance didplay in the beginning) , once that happens start the car and the lights will work/


i wanst doing it long enough phil..i thought after opening seq was done i was ready and u gotta wait til the mode is up, like radio, dvd etc

the illumination is not as simple as you think it is, I try hook up the pin to the car main harness still no go. its a firmware that controls the illumination on this headunit. Rememeber I have a newer one its plug and play with the old harness and everything works the way it should.
if you need the igo8 I have it, I will try to zip it out for you guys. please let me know a online storage place.

well not so quick, aaron has igo8 BUT.

this is what we did. he had me back up all my info from my sd card on a folder in my computer, he then sent me all his sd contents and i applied them to my card , but this wasnt enough..apparently since we have diff hardware getting the hu gps to boot up takes a diff command or w/e the fuck its called.....so i ended up using a blend of his files and mine..... which did let me basically power up the gps and have everything work except that the maps for some reason are NOT in a place where the hu recognizes them so it thinks the content of maps is empty.

so be aware of that, then again i prolly f up the process and did something wrong..idk.

but yeah any help would be awesome
