(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Hey all, new 2009 MS3 owner. I am having some weird issues with trying to start the car. Here is some background: bought the car with timing chain noise. Drove it once, just to get it home. I finished the repair using the How To: VVT thread and put the car together, tried to start the car twice. It cranked, but on the second time a bunch of fuel sprayed on top of the transmission and spilled onto the ground. I discovered the leak to originate from the nut on the hard line under the HPFP. Just got around to retightening the nut using some threads on this forum and putting the car back together. I tried to start it, after priming the HPFP about 10 times (no leaking, as far as I can tell), but as soon as I crank it, I hear a click, no crank, then and the lights on the instrument panel start flickering. It looks like a log in a fire, crackling. I remove the key, reinsert the key, turn it to on position, and the lights start flickering again. If I remove and reinstall the battery and put the key to the on position, the lights look normal. I had the battery checked and there is ample voltage and CCA. I will look at fuses, lock/unlock the door a few times to see if its the immobilizer, and maybe try hitting the starter tonight, but other than that I am at a loss as to the flickering lights issue. Anyone experienced this before? If so, anything I should look for? |

| Not Ranked : 0 score I'm assuming you've tried this already? If your car does not start Also I would check the ground on the HPFP itself. When it's not connected or contacting right it can cause starting issues. |

I made sure not to even touch that ground on the HPFP, but I will make sure its connected and tight. | |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score just as an update, I got the car started. I did not do anything special aside from cycling the remote locks and then running a big wrench across the engine (serious), after which the car decided to start up. All I know is I am happy it's working now... |
