Default OBD Port Replacement

My OBD port keeps losing power/connection when i try to hook anything up on to it. I went to my local Mazda dealer and they are telling me id haveto order a whole new wiring harness. That there isnt a specific part number for just the OBD port and that its a 16pin connection but its only a 6pin on my 07 MS6. Anyone know where i might be able to find the the replacement port i would need? Thanks

Hmm....you would almost be better off having someone try to repair the existing plug? On my old honda the connections had separated inside the main relay due to heat during summer. I had to open it up and re-solder the connections.

Hard to find someone to repair something specific like that, however I imagine it is just a lose wire or two where the wire meets the pins...

Check this thread out, fairly certain this will resolve your issue:

Ya the pins inside the clip seem very loose thats why im thinking i need a new clip and it would be fine. But as for finding an MS6 in a junk yard in the area i live in would be like finding a needle in a haystack. Do you have any clue as to how far the wires run to where its actually connected at?

Check the thread I linked, it shows the pins as being very close to the dash, seems easily accessible and shows you how to remove. The thread is for MS3, but I assume most cars including MS6 are the same.

Join the Facebook groups for selling mazda parts and no doubt there are people parting out MS6's that will ship any parts to you if you indeed do need them.

I believe one of the groups is called mazdaspeed new/used parts

I checked out the thread its different for the MS6 and luckily i dont haveto take the dash apart to access it. The port is right above the gas pedal. My clip ia just hanging there the braket is missing. Was like that when i bought it so makes me think the last owner might have had a problem with it also. Im going to try to tighten them and see how it goes but i dont have anything to hook up to it at the moment. My AP was stolen earlier this yr waiting to save up and get a new one. Thanks for the help!
