You should be fine if you stay away from water that's higher then the bottom of your doors.

Also, We just released Stage 3 CAI's that include the inlet pipe as well and shipping is free to Florida too. Check them out here.

Intake is intake. I don't think one is better than the other I could be wrong though. I have HKS. I love it but sucks buying replacement filters cause you can't buy HKS in the USA anymore. I'm tuned as well and think it helps a bit. Goodluck.

Those #'s are with a tune. No intake can make that by itself.

And yes an intake with no tune is noticable.

We have new intakes out you should take a look.

I really like Jamie's new intakes.

I'll be doing the stage 2 soon. I stripped my Maf screw hole on my OEM intake and now it doesn't seal.

Plus free shipping to Florida. Stage 2 is the same price pretty much as a sure intake only.

I may have missed this but if not might be a good note to add:

The CS airbox only works for the 06 MS6 without modification. To work on the 07 MS6 you must swap the coldside intercooler piping from an 06... that's the note from CS anyways

It is recommended that the battery be disconnected so the ECU can relearn the fuel trims. I can't speak for the other intakes but ours feels stronger than stock for sure. We also have free OTS Maps specifically for our intakes. No others have that available.

Let me know if you have any questions.

James Barone, what is the size of your stage 2 power path maf housing? I'm trying to help someone with their map and that info would be handy.

Thanks for the continued Mazdaspeed support.

@jbarone;

Jamie, just thought I'd leave a bit of praise for you and your team. Installed the Power Path Stage 2 (SRI+TIP) on my MS6 a few weeks ago and simply put...WOW! The quality is spot on with the added performance to match. Just threw in the Dogbone RMM and the car has an even better feel with added support and response. I feel so much more connected to the car now, and I have you to thank.

Thanks I really appreciate that man.

I know I'm biased but, I think our intake is definitely one of, if not the very best on the market and to include a free OTS map specific to the intake is icing on the cake.

I'm also thrilled you like the rear motor mount as well.

Thanks!!

If you'll forgive my naive questions...

Is it worth buying an AP just to run the map for this intake? Considering that the intake (stage 2) will be my only engine mod for quite a while.

Also, same question, but for a CDFP upgrade. How important is it for this mod, and the map?

I've held off on an intake for so long because with the AP and CDFP, it's a $1300 mod.

Consider that I might run the car on a track (six 30min sessions) for a day or two each year. I don't know if this level of use increases importance of running the proper map, or having the HPFP upgrade.

A HPFP upgrade is essential to the cars! Even if you were to remain stock, its still not a bad idea to upgrade to something that will flow WAY better than the stock cdfp. If you have ANY plans to mod further than an intake system, its a must. More fuel means more boost. The maps for the AP are great! Even if just for a stock setup, you get monitoring AND more options. There is so much to be done utilizing an Accessport that its a great investment. The fact that Jaime and the JBR guys teamed up with @Lex; to create these OTS (off the shelf) maps for the intake systems is phenominal.

Sure its pricey, but far cheaper than a new motor or internal build, and what your getting for the price is reliability and piece of mind. Go for it, and you will see exactly what your money got you.

Another note for the Accessport; guys are really increasing MPG with it, and running a little E85 is a nice ability as well. If you have the ability, go for it mate!

Agreed. Just an AP for MPG and smoother power band makes it worth it.
I'm selling my wife on getting one prior to the cross country move. We go for about 1500 miles.

With a MPG map, I could save easily 150$ in fuel in a few days including house searching.

ok this thread is a bit old and now we have wider intakes 3.5" 4", if one was to remain stock turbo which one should be the way to go?

Im buying mine soon and so far im between JBR wide path stage2 and HTP 3.5"

Also I dont understand how a SRI that pulls hot air from the engine bay is better for our cars (according to my extended research in here Lmao) than a full size CAI...

Anybody?

Get the 3" JBR that was just released. Don't need anything bigger for the K04 I don't think.

Main disadvantage of a CAI is hydro locking if you run through any deep puddles. Other than that, I've heard of some possible lag due to the longer piping but I haven't seen much proof of it.

Hey all,

As you can tell by my posts and info, I'm new here. Just picked up an 06 Speed6. I used to own an 04 6s and bought the CPE Mafci for my 3.0. Loved that CAI. Since my purchase of the CPE MAFCI I've always been a fan of CPE so I've been looking at their CAI for the Speed6.

MazdaSPEED6 Xcel? Cold Air Intake | Custom Performance Engineering

It looks great but my question to you all is, what about the TIP? If I've read this thread correctly and the CPE website, this CAI does not upgrade the TIP. However I know the CorkSport and other stage IIs do upgrade the TIP. Even the CPE SRI...

MazdaSPEED6 XcelNANO? Air Intake | Custom Performance Engineering

does not upgrade the TIP either.

Is the TIP upgrade necessary? I know it's buyers choice on which brand to ultimately buy, but wanted your opinion on if the TIP should be upgraded to complete either the SRI or CAI. Thanks.

JBR stage 2 is what i'm thinking about buying but before I do make the purchase, will an ap be a necessity if I go with this intake or can I just throw the intake and be done with it and not have a CEL light thrown. I will be purchasing an ap in the future but just don't have the funds right now to purchase both.

No AP is necessary to run our intake. Simply bolt it on and start making more power, you will not get a check engine light.

I have a AEM CAI and was wondering how much more power any of the other intakes make over it. A dyno comparison all between intakes would be awesome. I'm flowing 251g/s on 15psi and jbr says 300g/s with tune what has to be done to hit those numbers. I ask because I've been reading that my intake is possibly reducing my power.

Will there be any issues running a TIP with my Fujita intake? I'm just curious about fitment issues mostly. Or is there a real benefit to going with the JBR stage 2 setup and just scrap the Fujita altogether? I'd rather not go that route unless someone has a really good reason, i.e. the Fujita sucks, etc...

It will work with the fujita intake. The advantage of going with our complete stage 2 is it will make more power then what you have now and you can also run AP maps specifically for our intakes.

Hope this helps.

I get what you are saying, but if I plan on changing the turbo and getting custom tuned, the tuning advantage doesn't really make sense at that point, but it is a consideration as I may not go that route for a while and may benefit from the tuning for the time being as well as having a nicer looking intake! The Fujita on the car has been on there a while and it's a bit scratched and I'm sure the filter is probably due to be changed or cleaned as well.

has anyone compared IATs between the intake options? Sure, most of these are SRIs, so they'll all heatsoak the same. But a 5-ply material (like used in the JBR) will resist heat better than an aluminum intake. I'm more concerned to see if I should stick with getting the JBR stage 2 or if getting the Cobb intake with the box and tip makes more sense.

I'm more concerned to see if I should stick with getting the JBR stage 2 or if getting the Cobb intake with the box and tip makes more sense.
I have a 2011 speed with a Cobb SRI and TIP. Its been hot this summer and i really have not had any heat soak issues to speek of.
