Default TWM Performance Shifter Reviews

I am looking for honest TWM Shifter reviews. Good or Bad...

I bought the knock-off Ralco RZ STS and have had nothing but bad, bad luck. Had the first one for less than a week before the awesome firm shifting feeling, it had, croaked. It got really sloppy and made rattling sounds. I contacted Ralco RZ and they sent me out a replacement in less than a week. 10 days later, the same thing occurred. I pulled the second one out to find this.

(See pics below)

This little sleeve/collar of some sort fell right out the bottom. I found two of these; one from the first STS and this from the latest. I just returned the latest for a refund. I almost ordered the Cobb STS, but they made it straight?? meaning it sits to the right? not a fan.

So I ask you..... Any issues with your TWM STS? I know Ralco is a replica. I am just hoping its not an exact... fails and all. Thanks guys!!!!

Had my TWM STS for nearly 5 years and nothing but praise. Have not had a single issue.

Cold weather sucks, but that is not the shifters problem. Shifts like butter when warm.

Some people do not like TWM as of late because of some very bad PR.

I have the TWM full replacement shifter since about November.

I have to get in there every now and then because the reverse plate slowly moves away and makes getting into 1st and 2nd difficult, but it's a quick fix and I have only had to do it once since I've had it, soon to be twice.

Otherwise, I say it does the best job at improving the shifts in what is otherwise the worst feeling manual transmission I have ever driven.

I've had TWM Full Replacement now about two years and it's a pretty nice improvement over stock. Like others have had said, during cold weather, the shifts aren't as smooth, at least for the first few minutes of driving.

One downside of the TWM is that you really need a heavy shift knob, otherwise I feel like the effort is a little too high. I'd prefer if they'd make a Full Replacement unit that shifts at the stock height.

The shifter does a nice job allowing you to shift with more consistency than the stock unit, but I feel like they shortened the throws too much.

Overall though it works pretty well. I've haven't had any issues with build quality.

Quality wise they're pretty good.

As a company FUCK TWM. They fucked over a soldier for wanting to use his military discount in conjunction with a promo he won and gave it to someone else.

I don't think I'd want to drive this car without the full replacement. While I'm still battling the shitty 2nd gear synchro, this unit at least keeps the shifter locked in place (no gear pop out).

Although, after over a year of tinkering, I still don't think I have this thing adjusted as well as it could be. I don't know if it's me or my tranny.

This transmission is this car's biggest fail.

Would anyone be willing to take a photo of where they have their lockout plate set? Or even the base mounting bolts? Any visual details at all?

I just need some visual reassurance that this thing can't be adjusted any better than it is. Maybe I'm overlooking something silly.

"... adjust the side to side movement until there is about 1 mm between the shifter shaft and the cable end." Bitch, it won't even reach 1mm from the selector cable!

I'll post a photo of mine later tonight.

Have you loosened up the base bolts?

The twm ss was one of my first mods and I have not had any issues at all. I'm abused it numerous times at the track as well.
