| Not Ranked : 0 score That's my only complaint about the program. I usually do 3 4th gear runs in a single log, wipe out the irrelevant non-WOT data, and analyze from there. I have to trim even further and save each run to its own file if I want to use it in virtual dyno. |

Where i live there are no flat roads really, and I don't worry about it for normal logging, just go to the same area each time. But if I want to make a dedicated VD log, I have to find an exact spot to start that gives me room for 4th gear and no undulations or changes in angle of the road. If I find that exact spot though, it would be nice to be able to "combine" logs and go ahead and shift without having to do extra housekeeping later.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I don't tune with VD...it ain't like that....you still tune with the logs. I use VD to compare if I am making a difference over my base map. I also use the same piece of road...2 flat stretches from 1 on ramp to the next off ramp. I use it like I would at a dyno...car rolling below 2000rpm, with no throttle (in fact, stab the brakes with right foot for good measure), then floor the accelerator til redline. In one of my conversations with Christian@Cobb, he told me that the 335 guys use something like a 30 - 90 roll and time it to the tenth of a second to gauge if they're making more power. Using VD is similar to that except you add a lot more parameters to it to make it more scientific.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Exactly, for repeatability with it, you must use the exact piece of road. If you do, it's a useful comparison tool when tuning, at least it should be. I was trying to say that when normal logging, I don't worry so much because I'm the one interpreting the numbers, not some software. But with VD doing the math, you have to give it consistent inputs.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I dont think VD will ever take multiple pulls in the same log and decipher which is a run which just messing around, and taking gear into account isn't really feasible since all the loggers it supports do not record gear. It was a big enough hassle when I went to requiring TPS. People REALLLLLY chewed me over that one. On a normal dyno you would record a run then start a new run to make a pull. Thats how we did it on the 2 4-wheel superflows we had at Hypertech when I worked there. I tried to mimic the use of a real dyno as much as possible.

I.E. it would just grab the first set of full throttle rows and ignore everything else.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Or you can manipulate the data yourself. Transfer to excel, make pretty, copy and paste to a text document and roll.
Drop a 100 in all tps entries that they want recorded. Then the user can create a column with the number gear 1,2,3,4,5,6 and then your program uses if scenarios and caluclated by what number it finds.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score It comes after the install with the first update. It requires an internet connection on install. It is required on the first startup to get the column definitions, and car definitions. It cuts out a HUGE maintenence nightmare of updating the installer with each car definition thats added. I have the process automated to build the car definitions into a zip file which is downloaded from the server on startup. Its quick, and works on 99% of all machines. Also I am fairly certain it uses port 80 right now which is the normal HTTP port to contact the server for updates. I will force this in the next release so that everyone knows what port its going to communicate on.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Dont get me wrong ... you dont have to have an internet connection after the first startup as it tries to check for any updates and sees that there is no connection and it just goes on. The first load has to do it just because all the files are in the installer (for my sanity).

| Not Ranked : 0 score Looks like a nice program, have we been able to verify repeatability of accuracy yet?

In my experience, the program seems pretty consistent. I started with around ~255/280 average before w/o the DP/TMIC, on the load tune. Now, I'm seeing ~300/325 average with the DP/TMIC on boost tune.

. That is my "all time" high so far without my DP, my average numbers though are 312/331.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Guys this isnt the first forum its been released on Its been tested in the Evo and Subaru, and GM worlds. Everyone is skeptical till they get it compared to their dyno ... then they are sold on it. Ive got some runs somewhere of a car in kansas that dynoed 701, 702, 703 back to back and then ran a pull on the street and VD showed 700hp. Ive seen them compare 300hp cars all the way to 800hp cars on this thing. All with the same results. It DOES require a good log though. If you go get a log on a bump road, with wheel spin or a slipping clutch ... dont expect a miracle out of VD it wont fix that run. Itll look like crap

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Thanks Realgib3 ... Ive got this thing on SEVERAL forums and every forum goes through ... "is it accurate" phase ... they all launch a huge test thread on it ... they all come to the same conclusion.

| Not Ranked : 0 score The most important thing when using a tool like this is that its consistent, not that its 100% accurate (though its pretty close for me). I've been really happy with the program. |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Its as consistent as the logs are. Some people dont know how to log properly. By that I mean picking the road to log on, they think I can compensate for torque converters, and slipping clutches. Im just not a miracle worker.

Here's a log of mine from a couple weeks ago. Looks great. Edit: this is with the stock CDFP and TMIC.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Why did you use smoothing 1? Just curious; all the dynos I've ever run on use smoothing 3 so that's what I used. --- - Tapadatass
