Default What the hell am I doing?

Yo. BNR S4 install. Easiest mod I've ever done. Got it in, got the atp downpipe on. The downpipe sits about an inch from the the corksport CBE, I'll just force that on, not my concern atm. I got this JBR WP 3.5" aluminum intake. A question:
How tf are you supposed to get that nut on the top on? It doesn't line up at all for me and if I can get it on the bolt the little nipple for the boost control it sitting on my master cylinder.
Getting anything to line up on this car is a damn nightmare with this turbo. Now I got to buy a small battery because i see no way in the hell the stocker will fit back in. Finally done with all the exhaust stuff minus that end of the downpipe. Need to do fuel injector seals and finish the fmic. Oh and solve HOW THE HELL THIS INTAKE IS SUPPOSED TO WORK. I am getting withdraw from not driving my mazda for a week

3.5" WP requires you to cut the hell out of the battery box or get a 51R battery box with a 51R battery. I'll make that switch when I need a new battery, but for now cutting the stock box was relatively easy and it fits. As for stuff lining up, the biggest piece of advice I can possibly give anyone that buys a JBR with a BNR S4 is to take that 3.5" coupler that you probably got with it from EDGE and throw it right in the fucking garbage. It's too short for the bend at the end of the TIP, it doesn't like to flex at all, it sucks, and it will cause you nothing but problems. Amazon couplers are cheap and FAR better quality.

Which kind of coupler do you mean? https://www.amazon.com/HPS-HTSC-350-...70_&dpSrc=srch Something like this?
I'm gonna guess the distance between a 6 and 3 between the battery and the turbo is different. The 6 (at least my 2006) does not have a battery box just a tray and I dont think its in the way of the intake, it's just that the intake will go over it and the battery will not fit between. I will get a 51r battery, just sucks with my sub and amps i'm afraid it's not gonna do to well. Winters get pretty cold here too. I can see that the 3 and 6 have the same oem battery though. This whole experience has made me really wish I had gotten a 3 instead lol. Looking at your picture that intake looks WAY lower than mine.

Move the battery to the trunk if it's a concern.

I have the silicone 3.5" JBR and had to cut my tray and go 51r. I knew ahead of time about the battery, but having to trim the tray was a surprise.

I would move it to the trunk but then I’d have to rewire my amps and I’m not about to open that can of worms again. 51R it is. How did you secure the intake though? It’ll fit if I don’t try to attach it to that bolt but I don’t want it flopping around. Also the recirc tube points down a little if it’s not on that bolt. That bend right at the coupler to the turbo also makes the silicon coupler go on funky cuz it wants to follow it around if I try to push enough on for a clamp.

Moving the battery to the trunk is the best thing you can do. I have a 4in intake and I took one look at the battery box and said fuck that. 2 gauge wire to the trunk called it a day. I attached the two gauge to my positive battery terminal under the hood and I didn't have to rewire a fucking thing. Just make sure to get a sealed battery box so you don't kill yourself from the fumes.

I'll just go with a 51r battery. I work at an O'Reilly's and it has been a god send through this project. Discount ftw. Im not sure about the coupler though, because that nipple hits the master cylinder im not sure if I can line it up right with the ricirc hose. IDK. Haven't even wanted to work on it really.
