(Thread Starter) | Neutral : -1 score ![]() It’s back! After a brief hiatus, we are excited to announce that Mazdaspeed Accesstuner is now available. Accesstuner is our software package that allows enthusiasts to create custom calibrations for their Accessport-supported vehicle. New for Accesstuner are features such as Map Compare and Table Filtering! Previously, features like these were limited to our Accesstuner Pro software used by approved COBB Protuners. For a complete list of features, please visit the Mazdaspeed Accesstuner product page or the following Accesstuner Support Pages. MAZDASPEED ACCESSTUNER SUPPORT MAZDASPEED ACCESSTUNER GENERAL FEATURES MAZDASPEED TABLES AND MONITORS MAZDASPEED TUNING GUIDE ACQUIRING ACCESSTUNER The process for acquiring Accesstuner has changed. To get the process started, go to the Mazdaspeed Accesstuner page and click the GET ACCESSTUNER button as seen below. ![]() COBB Tuning has partnered with EFI University to provide customers sought-after Accesstuner training. This training and subsequent testing is required to gain access to the Accesstuner software. Below are the steps to get your copy of Accesstuner: 1. Provide and confirm the REQUIRED details including your first/last name, email address, Accessport serial #, and Accesstuner supported vehicle. 2. When details are confirmed, customers will be passed to EFI University checkout for the relative platform course (i.e. Mazdaspeed). 3. Once checkout is complete, EFI University will provide you with the Accesstuner training course. 4. Once the Accesstuner course is complete, Accesstuner testing will be administered and must be passed prior to gaining access to Accesstuner software. 5. When you successfully pass the Accesstuner training test, you will receive an email with a link to your copy of Accesstuner. After agreeing to the information, click on the blue button at the bottom of the pop-up window. Users will then see the following screen which must be filled out correctly in order for the Accesstuner software version to be compatible with their vehicle. ![]() Accesstuner training with EFI University is approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes of video based training. There are quizzes following each topic and the total testing portion of the training course can be completed in approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Students can take the training at their own pace, but should expect a total commitment of just over 4 hours.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I don't miss my AP. Proprietary hardware is dying off really quickly everywhere you look, it just doesn't make sense anymore. Nowadays most platforms have tuning solutions that are app based or can be run off a phone and are just as good or better than what you can do with an AP. You also don't have to pay money in order to take a class to be qualified to use software for your own vehicle...

| Not Ranked : 0 score Okay so the Accesstuner is now available again so buying the COBB AP make sense again? So after the price of the AP, and now the $149 course to use accesstuner is it worth it for long term self tuning of your car or are you better off paying someone to tune it for you? IYO? |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Cobb that is disappointing to hear you still continue to force the class and charge us money for it. Class shall be optional but some of us just need access to software as professionals tune our cars not us. Here in Las Vegas for example there isn't a single "Protuner" who has a proper softwares to work with. |

"Protuner" have ATR Race. The Profeessional version needs the person/shop to be an COBB Authorized dealer. the only people who don't have the proper is those shade tree tuners.

| Not Ranked : 0 score @Cobb Tuning; can you provide any information about the class from EFI? Is it basic generic tuning information? How capable should a self tuner expect to be after 2 hours and 45 minutes of video tutorial? Simple MAF cals and idle bumps or AUX fueling and specific gravity scaling? EFI could be a great source for those looking to learn to self tune. I am curious if there is much knowledge to be gained for the semi-competent self tuner or if this is simply generic information to explain the potential risks of tuning as a sort of CYA. Thanks.

| Not Ranked : 0 score To me its not really that big of a difference. AP 650 + 150 = 800 (assuming you buy brand new) VT 550 + *150 (tablet or laptop to monitor) = 700 Seems very similar to someone going CPE over CS for a part. Lots of hysteria going on. * is obviously optional

I thought the map compare feature was ATPro only, so it doesn't apply to regular end users.

| Not Ranked : 0 score All this has taught me is that if I move to another platform and it is supported by COBB, I will avoid that purchase. This is exactly as I expected, old versions work, but will be windowed; all to F over the secondary market and inadvertently doing the same to the primary... thanks.. I really like the AP and what it has done for my car but this move is not in the interest of customers. a VT purchase (and a resale of my AP) might be in my future; If I have to spend more money to retain usability it will not be to the company that forced it.

| Not Ranked : 0 score So was my question purposely ignored or by accident? It would be nice to have some type of grandfather or discount for the current ATR users who have the software. @Cobb Tuning; |

| Not Ranked : 0 score I guess I'll be the first (and only, prob) one to admit im taking the class. It sucks, I'm not happy about it, but it's the best course of action for myself. I just started with performance mods and I don't know much, so honestly, the class sounds interesting. But I don't enjoying it being forced. I bought my ap3 new, just after atr was taken down, and in fairness, cobb offered to take it back. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score I've been using ATR for a while. Suddenly no more updates unless I pay to take a class. I feel abandoned...Other tuning solutions wouldn't do that to its customers.

| All these "Self Tuners" bitching about a class, it's to save your ass from blowing your own motor and blaming it on the software. I will guarantee 90% of the people that have posted in here have 0 understanding of how the tables function, interact and affect each other. Yayyy, you understand AFR/Timing, that's fundamentals 101. Quit bitching, if you don't like it switch to something else. /RANT

Remember when Cobb fixed all their table descriptions that were wrong? Nope, me neither - they haven't done it. Remember when Cobb tried to tell us how tables worked, but in reality they worked in entirely different ways or didn't work at all? Yep, I do, and they're still like that. Is Cobb and this EFI class going to teach those nuances? I doubt it. Might as well CONTINUE to leave it up to us to figure it out for them so they can go back and implement it in their OTS tunes.

| Not Ranked : 0 score All the guys jumping ship to VT. You can't resell it as far as I know. So unless you are planning on keeping the car forever. Its an invalid point about the small cost of the class. Ford users have had to pay the 150 cost since it came out. I'll be paying for the class as well, and I don't need to. Maybe its super basic, but after working for 3 different manufacturers, and being forced to take basic classes for each (intro to electrical diag etc) I could have passed each class and tested out, but took it, and learned something new each time. If you enjoy self tuning. I say take it, learn a thing or two, and be happy with life

Will the video training courses be available to customers after passing the tests and receiving ATR as a sort of knowledge base that customers could refer back to when needed?

| Not Ranked : 0 score Someone halp I dunt understand what all these tables are for! What is load? Is it safe to run 30* of timing at redline? How do I get rid of the check engine light for my cat delete? How much power can I expect to gain from a self tune over an OTS map? What is DBW? Why won't my car hit its boost targets?

| Not Ranked : 0 score Disappointing. I've been tuning my own cars for years. I don't need some remedial class and now something I purchased with support in mind is being kept hostage? I would gladly watch a video course if it was free, and I could understand slightly if this applied to NEW sales but... We will see if a class action comes of it. Guess I should never lose my install file, but if I do I'm losing the ap. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Thanks Marshall. I'd be interested in a further breakdown of topics covered in the training to better compare this course with EFI's regularly available online courses. I am guessing that this is similar to the Intro to EFI course, with a video of a Speed tuning session, but I am not sure. I appreciate the information. If I'm asking for more information than Cobb would prefer to release, feel free to tell me to fuck off. I'm simply trying to decide if/what path is best for me for tuning solutions going forward. Frankly, I have ATR for my car, but I do not self tune at the moment. If I could learn quite a bit more from EFI's advanced course, for me, it would be more logical to pay $50 more for that knowledge and skip the Speed specific video since many of the nuances of the speed platform are documented here.
