My kit from Edge (ATP) was a bolt in. Everything fit - eventually. It was pretty straight forward just time consuming. I don't even want to know what your bill's going to be @ $75-100 an hour shop rate. If this dude can't handle a bolt on kit you've got the wrong dude. If he's having issues in a shop with a lift.... I did mine by myself in a carport with 2 ramps!

Seriously, i could probably do it with less issues using only a pair of scissors and some glitter glue.

I did a search and didn't find much on it, besides a speed6 that went on a 3071 EWG w/stock cat back and upgraded TMIC and still made like 390whp on a dyno. MS6 3071 dyno

Is my stock catback really a restriction for the gtx3076 w/EWG?

My only thought is that is might not be when it's dumping, but maybe it would slow spool time?

Most people have already upgraded their catback by the time they go BT so it's probably never an issue.

So the bolt they sent me for the return line is too small to fit the oem banjo and the aftermarket banjo. Anyone had similar issue?

I used the ones from the kit and they fit well. I remember one of the lines was a PITA to thread into place, I don't remember if it was the return or the feed line for the turbo but it was supposed to thread down into the CHRA somewhere.

Also installed my stuff at the dealer, some mechanics at the dealers are pretty good and the one working on my car at my dealer is one of that too good to be true kind.

There was no banjo on my return line - it was the custom line provided in the kit.

Wow...The dealership! I would hate to see that bill. Get the vaseline out because they will be giving it to you DRY! Next time, do more research and you can do the installs yourself. Or get with the local NATOR and see if you can get some help from them.

The banjo bolt I believe is on the feed line. It is a huge PITA to put on. The one in the kit is shorter but it does work fine. Easier to install with help from a friend but it is still a PITA.

@EdgeAutosport.com
My goal: 400whp "safe" DD

Mods: listed below

Plans: listed below including NEW 0 mile OEM long block

Question: After weeks of research, essentially all GT and BNRs3 turbos can pretty much get me there with proper tune and fueling. I do not plan for meth, but I do plan for at least 30% E85 depending on my local tuner's desires. What is the best BT for my goals that does not strain the turbo/ motor to all hell? Obviously with a GT28/BNR s3 I have to run near close to the boost limits of the turbo... with a gt30/gt35, lower boost to equal the same power but longer spools, see main gains when almost to redline (which i believe would be good for a DD, so you're not max boosting while mod driving). So I guess I'm asking what's better for a 400whp DD, underboosting a larger turbo or near-max boosting a smaller turbo?

Bigger turbo, slower spool, lower tq, happy motor.

I'm planning on gtx3076. I want my power to the right because I spend a lot of time on the highway and would like my power to stay around redline which is better for straight line racing.

Only if you get an ATP external wastegate hotisde. The bellmouth will contact the wastegate, but that can be resolved with a stuffy 45* vband extension

I think if you are looking for a turbo to maximize your setup, the GTX2871 will be the way to go (you read correct, GTX2871). Its gonna flow like a GTX3071 with a little bit better spool. You'll be able to max out your fuel with that turbo and you won't have to run it on the ragged edge to do it.

But to answer your question, I prefer to underboost a larger turbo than running a smaller turbo out to the ragged edge. When you are close to the edge, you get a lot more heat and efficiency drops. And with the larger turbo, you always have more room up top if you decide to add extra fuel later.

Starting my 3071 install tomorrow and have been on the fence about porting the IWG before I put it on.

Have a catted DP for reference. I know it only takes a few minutes and I WOULD just do it but my dremel is broken and I dont feel like buying/borrowing one if creep isn't going to be a problem without porting.

Open the flapper and ask yourself: Do you see a small crescent moon that would have ANY chance of acting as a restriction?

Then ask what is more work, getting a dremel and playing it safe, or taking a chance on doing 2 turbo installs because you skipped this step the first time around

I only speak from experience because it happened to a lad in our nator

Im really having a hard time deciding on the turbo. I was originally looking at the gt3071r, but would like to evdntually make just under 500whp(around 450-475) yet still make around 4 while on stock internals, without having to buy another turbo down the road. Would you suggest gt3076r? Id like to stick with the proven gt series. The gtx just seems hit or miss.

Definitely check it out before installing. I was pleasantly surprised to find that my gtx3071r didn't have that crescent restriction that the earlier models had. I installed it as is, and with my catted dp I only crept to 21 psi on spring pressure.

You wanna make just under 500hp? How is the gtx3076 overkill? Sounds like the perfect turbo for what you're trying to achieve.

Think ill get spool by just over 4k rpms w/ Stock manifold (upgrading to cpe 44mm ewg mani down the road)? I assume it will be a good option for around 400hp while I get the parts together to build the bottom end? And after thinking about it im thinking 450 is a better realistic final goal for a dd. I was making 497awhp @ 512awtq in my evo and as much as I loves it, it was more than I could ever honestly use around here. I know 50hp might not seem like.much to some people, but as im sure you guys know it can be a huge difference in daily drivability.

I just looked at mine pretty extensively and compared it and it looks as ported as any "extra" porting pics I have seen so I'm not gonna screw with it. No half moon restriction or lip going in.

Soon as the weather gives me a non-shitty day I'll get things started.

Trying to confirm whether or not I need to order a step down stud for the oil return on the 3071 kit I got through edge. Read a post from like 5 years ago that said yes but then found nothing else so i dunno if its changed since then.

What exactly comes with the BNR S4 Turbo kit? Is there anything else aside from the HTP 3.5 inch intake that I would need to purchase? Thanks
Sorry if it's already been answered, there's just a lot of pages in this thread.

I'm trying to get my EBCS in and I'm having trouble finding the line for the boost source. I just dropped in a ATP GXT3076R with EWG and there is no outlet coming off the turbo housing. IS there an alternate source I can tap into?

Tap into a boost tube. The one coming off the turbo will work just fine.
