What you heard about act 6 puck is false, that clutch will last a long time as long as you know how to use it. A twin disk is really only needed if your shooting for anything over 400-450 ftlbs of torque. And longevity shouldn't really be of concern if you are at that level of power IMO

That is good to hear. I am very gentle driving around 90% of the time, but I will do pull now and again. I have done 1 proper launch, 1 botched launch (<3k rpm), and a couple quick starts.

I am looking to do a light build and a slightly bigger turbo, but I would like to daily drive it if possible. This means I need to over build a couple things in order to make it last. Even under 400tq, the stock axles aren't going to cut it. The stock clutch definitely won't hold up, but the previous owner installed the 6-puck and I like it so far.

I am mainly looking at the twin disc for durability and longevity. I would rather not have the motor or trans out again for a couple years.

Time for more research and thought into whether or not it is a good idea.

Stock axles are a lot stronger than you think. I'm making 800/600+ and in stock axles.....

Clutch mileage is totally dependent on the driver. It is hard to say how many miles you can get out of one but typically the twin disc will last you a good while without being as harsh as the six puck from ACT.

My ms6 axles will not handle that.

The ms3 axles are usually all you need, but I am selling the ms3 and working on an ms6.

Harshness isn't that big of a deal, but I drive 15+k miles every year from commuting and changing a ms6 clutch every other year will get old quickly. This might be a good option for me.

I just pulled my 6 puck off last night. 18k on it and it looks like it's about done!! Doh!! I wonder how much longer this will last for me. Gotta weigh my options now. We will see if I can fit this in my tight budget lol.

I know you'll hate to hear this but, with the ms6 you'll want to look into the 850 with the new steel flywheel option. The guys running the aluminum were having a lot of issues. Specifically in the 6, once they switched to the steel option they were saying night and day difference.

The ms6 is much heavier and the extremely light (compared to stock) flywheel doesn't have enough mass and inertia to slow the clutch down and it bogs. Anyone that's running a twin from cm in a 6 has switched or is switching to the steel option.

Yeah I can understand that.
Why the 8.5 vs the 7.25 though?

i had my ACT 6 puck pulled off at around 30k miles and it looked almost brand new. Replaced it with a new one since the puck is only around $100. The shop measured the old and new and said that the old one only wore about 1/100"

LOLZ. Dang I'm jelly dude. Ended up just getting a new disk. In reality, there is not much disc material to start with, even less when you account for the rivets holding the pads on. I do a lot of stop and go driving as well as numerous days out at the 1320.

Thats pretty impressive! More proof that clutch wear is dependent on the driver.

The tax codes should work with all the clutches except ACT. We'll get this taken care of ASAP.

Its not a problem at all! The Southbend clutch hasn't shipped yet so its not too late to change it if you want the CM.
