HTP Intakes at EdgeAutosport!

With the Mazdaspeed 3 and 6, turbo upgrades are becoming pretty common. And when upgrading your turbo, running a larger intake will help you get the most out of that upgrade. Not only can it help you get the most out of your upgraded turbo but it can also help you get more out of your factory K04.

HTP Intakes are a smooth one piece design that help to improve flow to the turbo with minimal restrictions. The optional air straightener will smooth out the air moving past the MAF sensor to make tuning more consistent and predictable.



There are several sizes available for you to choose from depending on how much power you are looking to go for.

The HTP 3" intake system is a good choice for stock turbo and smaller turbo upgrades like the BNR or the ATPGT/GTX28's and even the GT3071.

It is $260 for a complete intake system from the filter to the turbo and negates the need to buy a separate turbo inlet pipe.




The HTP 3.5" Intake System would be a good choice for anything GTX3071 or bigger.

It is $275 and it too is a complete intake system with no need for a turbo inlet pipe.




These intakes also come with the option to add a smaller 51r battery tray. The 3" intake system will fit with the stock battery tray and ECU with only the need to remove the lower ECU cover for proper fitment. The 3.5" intake system however does require significant modification to the factory battery box as well as ECU relocation. If you get it with the battery tray you would need to purchase a 51r battery but you still have a cleanly mounted battery with a nice ECU mount as well. This is recommended to be included with the 3.5" intake.

The 51r Battery Tray is $145 by itself.

Another thing to think about for you guys that are looking to start modding with an intake. If you know you are going to be wanting to go with a bigger turbo later on, you can install one of these intakes on the stock turbo and then when you upgrade, all you have to get is a different coupler and you are ready to go. Keep in mind that when going with a larger diameter intake, you will need to tune for it to compensate for the extra airflow.

Are these going to be on sale when you guys start your tax return sale? I have been eying one of these, but can't quite justify the price just yet. If even a little bit on sale I could sell my corksport kit and upgrade to this kit! You say it fits with the stock battery box, is that gen1/2 specific? Or does it work on both models. I know the boxes have a few differences between them.

These will be included in the tax sale and you won't regret switching to it.

I've personally installed one of these on a Gen2 and the 3" fits with the stock battery box and ECU no problem. To prevent it from rubbing you will have to remove the lower cover for the ECU but the upper ECU cover will still fit in place so you can't tell that anything is different from stock.

They are aluminum, sound great, and they will powder coat different colors if you ask. I've ran the stock size inlet pipe, also the 3" full intake, and I just ordered the 3.5" powder coated white. Top notch product for sure.

I got the 3" installed with my GTX2867r and it is a sweet setup. I have the JBR small battery box with a 51r Optima Yellow Battery. The sound of this combo is pure sex at spool time..

Like Zoom66 said, 3.5" would be good for the 3071 and above. You don't necessarily need it on the GT3071 but the GTX3071 is capable of quite a bit more flow and anything bigger than that would definitely be worth putting on the 3.5".

Were you able to ever get a sound clip? How do you like it? How is the sound during casual driving? I just am concerned of sounding like a wind tunnel on my DD. Under WOT the thing can and should be loud as shit..

I had had a clip, it was from the inside going part throttle through 1-3rd, my phone couldn't really pick up the noise, it's not loud at all. Wot it sounds like you think it would, nice spool up and bpv swoosh. My 3" was louder.

I can try and get a sound clip for you tonight if I have time to set up my phone so it can hear the intake. You only hear it under boost and depending on how loud you play your music, you might not hear it much at all. Are you wanting a sound clip of just driving or WOT?

I went with the 3.5 cause I plan on BT later this year, if it wasn't for that, I woulda went with the 3" again.

One of the first comments I made about the HTP 3.5" intake after I put it on was that the COBB one was louder.

I'm running a full cat less down pipe, mated to the stock cat back with resonator, I can barely hear the intake on part throttle over the exhaust.

I'm also a on full catless down pipe with the stock exhaust, if you find the sweet spot on the throttle you can get mostly intake sucktion sound and only a little exhaust, you can hear it plenty then. But for the most part, windows up and radio on, you don't really hear it till you go WOT.

Loud is a relative term, really. Its definitely not quiet but in no way obnoxious. I went from the stock airbox to the 3" and there is a HUGE audible difference. First a real strong suction, then you hear the turbo spool much more clearly, and then the singing of the BPV is perfect. I have a test pipe and it paired very well with the intake. After my experience I wouldn't go with ANY other intake personally.

I agree that loud is a relative term.

I have a JBR 3 inch awaiting install and am debating swapping it for the aluminum HTP for the reason of being able to buy a simple coupler for a BT application. In all honesty I also love the spool noise and a loud spool noise is a plus in my book.

Agreed. I went with the 3" HTP so in the future it would be a simple coupler change to a BNR S3 or BT. Cant go wrong with it. Top notch quality.

The HTP intake does make switching turbos super easy. All it takes is a < $15 coupler...

True, but if you are planning to upgrade to a GT turbo you would need to change intakes completely or just couplers if you have an HTP intake.

Main reason I went HTP over JBR, since JBR went to all silicone before I upgraded.
