By chance did you happen to get a inconsistent clicking sound while the clutch pedal is out? And clicking when revving the engine at low blip rpms?

No clicking a tiny bit of clutch chatter a light rattling sound. when idle with clutch out and rpms are low. Turning on the ac makes it a bit louder. But I am thinking this Is normal for a stage 3.

Chatter is pretty normal anytime you go with a lighter flywheel.

For those who just put there clutch in. It was super stiff the first few times I pushed it in I thought something must be wrong. But it just keeps getting better and easier everyday. It was hard to bleed all the air out of the slave. I did not disconnect the original slave just bolted it on and it blew its seal before I got out of the drive way. Got a new oem slave started to bleed it and ran the res dry. Took twenty mins of pumping clutch pedal to get pressure and blew the second slave. Got the oem slave warrented and got a motive power bleeder . Bleeding all the air out by myself no help no pumping . Worked perfect. No problems since. That incident. I have been working on cars for 25yrs. Never had a bleeding issues befor. The only comment I got on my problem that made any sence was that the slave I got was just a bad part and I didn't need a power bleeder. And I agree. But I like the motive power bleeder and I am ver happy I bought it.

That's normal. If it's working it will be fine. They seem a bit fussy they either work or blow lol.

Is there a defective batch of machined flywheels @Papasmuf flywheel stage 4 extreme)? doesn't fit onto the end of the crank as the inner diameter is too small and the same thing with mine when it was to be installed today. Mine is stage 3 enduro was shipped August 2nd.

We think there was a defective batch. We are trying to get with South Bend to correct the problem. Haven't been able to get a response yet though. We will not be selling anymore SB clutches until the issue is resolved though as this has happened a few times now.

My FW fit without issue. I will say there guide pin is not very accurate (cheap). I had to hold it while someone else tightened the PP.

No problems with mine. The paint on the pressure plate made it a bit hard to get in place. A little sand paper fixed that. I had my buddy hold everything in place wile I tightened everything up.

Will those affected be contacted? My order number is 18800 and the plan was to install in the next couple of weeks. Would be best to know before hand if something needs to be corrected

Can someone here tell me how your clutch felt after breakin...
My stage3 pedal engagement is happening at about half way out, the only time I remember feeling it that way was when I needed to replace it.
Any help would be appreciated.

Can you measure the center bore on the flywheel? I need to find out what it needs to be because I don't know off hand but that will be the best way to tell if its correct or not.

Engagement and pedal feel will definitely change, but you may want to check and make sure you are not leaking between the clutch master or slave cylinders.

The Southbend flywheel i received was 27mm and the crank end is 30mm ,I ended up getting mine machined to fit which cost me an extra $245 out of my pocket to have it machined and freighted to and back from the machine shop.
Being overseas i had my car in the shop to get fitted when it was discovered, my only other option was getting them to put the oem clutch back in that came out and paying $800 labour for nothing.
Not happy how this is being handled, i emailed you guys a week ago when the car was on the lift asking if anything can be express shipped and received no response, other than reading on here no response from Southbend as yet..Wouldn't you guys pick up the phone and get a response straight away from them considering the premuim price we paid as well as us guys from overseas who also paid a few hundred in shipping.

Hmm die grinder bit about 20 bucks and 5 mins of grinding. For 245 bucks. That's a lot of butt hurt there.

IMO... Anyone considering spending 1k to have someone else put a clutch In should consider doing it them selves. 1k buys you a lot of cool tools and 1k in tools will save you thousands more over the years to come.

Hey Shane,

I just found your email from last Thursday about the clutch. I am very sorry you have not gotten a response from us. We have actively been trying to work with South Bend on this and we have gotten nowhere with emails or phone calls. When we call them we get transferred around through different departments until we end up at an answering machine. We have not forgot about you and we will take care of you. Again, I am sorry for the lack of response from us but we will handle this with South Bend one way or another.

This is sad to hear. From all the talk on there web sites and face book about how great they rate themselves. You think this wouldn't be a problem. I called them to ask a tech questions and they were on the ball. I got someone on the phone rite away. I hope they get there shit together. Fast!! Or they will lose a lot of business.

Sorry I'm not real sure what we are measuring but the hole at the bottom of the assembly on mine seems to be about 32mm.
Does that seem right?

If sb know about the problem they probably won't ship anymore out that are undersized. So if your worried about just ordering one. Call them directly and ask them personly before you order. All you have to do is measure the hole when you get it.

I would personally like to thank Edge especially Alan for his assistance and offering to reimburse me the machining fees i paid to get the flywheel to fit, the offer to do that is priceless as Edge weren't to know some of the flywheels were shit.

The clutch itself feels smoother to engage than OEM, the pedal is a tad heavier. There is chatter noise on any acceleration..the noise could be amplified more as i have the JBR tranny mount.
I am interested what the weight difference is between the stock and Southbend flywheel i didn't think to weigh either of them and i passed on the OEM flywheel already.

I have the south bend stage 3 clutch in my car and I installed it 13 months ago. I've put a very hard 14,000 miles on this clutch with my Gtx3071r and it's holding up perfectly fine. It's never slipped once. I never had any issues with my flywheel it worked the day I installed it. I would highly recommend this clutch to anyone. I'm running stage 3.

I think edge is aware and will check of the issues (if any) that their kits may have, and only ship out the good ones to those who buy through them

We have been doing some site maintenance that could have messed up your search...
