Okay so we have recently changed part of our filter section to add a Trim level and it has some ghosts of the old search function that popped back up under Trim. We are currently going through and deleting these but it takes time as we have to do it manually through every car/year model. So if you use the search by car feature and choose 2006/Mazda/Mazdaspeed 6 in the drop down boxes it takes you to a page with all the parts listed out. You then have to go down to "Shop By Part" and choose Transmission. If you choose the transmission option directly under the Mazdaspeed 6 option in the Trim filter it takes you to an old listing with a few parts in it like what you are describing. These should be removed soon though.

They are a great clutch have my stage 3 Enduro in for 10,000 miless so far and it holds like a champ and engages smooth as.

Just a suggestion, maybe you guys could offer throw out bearings and flywheel bolts as an option with the kit for those that don't realise they are needed for new clutch installs.

We've been talking about doing this. We are going to have them on as an option once we update the products with descriptions as well.

Aside from a slight machining issue when they first came out, these clutches so far have proven to out shine the competition!

Mine may be the first with an issue. Purchased in 2013 and have roughly 22k miles on it and I'm having problems. Thought it was hydraulic so I replaced the master/slave and hydraulic lines and still having issues with my clutch. I'm pulling the transmission next week to inspect it. I either have a bad throw out bearing or a problem with the pressure plate at this time. Hoping nothing is wrong with the clutch and all the fingers are good on the pressure plate. I just ordered a new throw out bearing from you today in anticipation for that bring the problem. Won't know more until I pull the tranny.

Here are the clutch issues I'm having if anyone cares to chime in.

Help diagnose my Southbend Clutch issue - hard shifting, gear lockout etc.

I either have a bad throw out bearing or a problem with the pressure plate at this time. Hoping nothing is wrong with the clutch and all the fingers are good on the pressure plate. I just ordered a new throw out bearing from you today in anticipation for that bring the problem. Won't know more until I pull the tranny.

Here are the clutch issues I'm having if anyone cares to chime in.

Help diagnose my Southbend Clutch issue - hard shifting, gear lockout etc.

Trans has been pulled and looks like I'm the first person to experience a problem with this clutch. One of the retainer clips broke off on the clutch disk that holds one of the springs in place. Guess i'll toss my old stuff up on MSF to see if anyone wants to buy any of it since it's all good and works perfectly fine.

Thoughts on why this would have happened? I dont race my car, I dont track my car, I rarely even get into higher boost.

Other than the area where it broke, it looks to be wearing well. Mines done 13K and will be coming out this weekend to be reused on a built motor.
I will get the engine builder to give it a good going over to see if there are signs of trouble where yours broke

Are they cracks as well or just lighting on your pic?

Yeah those do look like cracks. If you were abusing the clutch for that kind of damage to happen, I would expect the rest of the components to show said abuse. And the disc, pressure plate, and flywheel all look great and appear to have lots of life left in them. Have you contacted SB yet? If you need anything from us let me know! We definitely want to make sure you get taken care of!

Excellent eyes! After further inspection I do indeed have additional cracks on 2 more of the spring retainer clips. So 3 of 4 are cracked or broken.

Southbend is taking care of me! They said I am the first to contact them regarding an issue with this clutch. They have no other reports of problems and because of this, they are sending me a new clutch disk. They said my clutch disk was the first generation disk they released and they have since redesigned them. The new clutch disk i'll be receiving will be quieter and stronger they said, so thats a bonus!

Besides this little issue, anyone looking to buy Southbend for their car, I would still highly recommend them.

Engine builder has my clutch out and went over it and it's in perfect condition and it has had Hoosiers/ dragged a few times and used as a daily etc.There is rubbing on the fork boot but nothing to worry about
I have requested pics from him but has sent it off with bottom end to be balanced.

Will get him to send some pics when it comes back.

Does yours say if it was made by exedy?

Edge.. Do you know what version stage 3 clutch disk that southbend sent me? My previous disk is different from this one.

The new disk says it's made in Japan by Exedy and my old clutch disk says nothing on it.

Any idea which they sent me?

Looks like my pressure plate is rubbing on the inside of the bell housing. Is this a problem and could it cause issues such as making my clutch disk break?

This is the one that went in mine (seems to share same part number as your new one), it was purchased June last year through Edge. I don't remember seeing anything on the other side with exedy on it,
The bottom end along with the clutch is due back tomorrow from engine balancing i will have a look.

When i first researched i think i did read a couple of reports on here with the early ones rubbing (one was a speed6)the bell housing but was fixed after it was reported to SB with newer releases,

It is normal for it to say made by exedy. We have one here that says that. Can you hear any rubbing or metal on metal sounds when its on the car running? If not, I wouldn't worry about it. If there is any noise, then you have a problem.

Clutch is back in and working great. This is way more quiet than my precious clutch disk.

Edge do you have any clue which version of the stage 3 disk they sent me? Is if daily, endurance or drag based off the photos I posted above.

It is definitely not the drag. I'm not 100% sure between the Daily and the Endurance based off looks, but I'm pretty sure that is going to be Endurance though. Endurance is made out of Kevlar/Ceramic and the Daily is Organic and that disc doesn't look very organic...

Just so that everyone is on the same page, Exedy is one of the largest manufacturers of OEM clutch parts in the world. The pressure plate and disc hub are very likely to be Exedy regardless of what company you buy your clutch from. IIRC, all of the OEM clutches in Mazda and Ford cars/trucks are Exedy.

You should be able to email SBC with the part numbers on the clutch and they should be able to tell you which disc you have.

anybody else with lot of miles on the st3 endurance ?

i now have gigen dual disc on custom flywheel and of course is damn heavy and chatters on 800-900rpm 1800-1900 rpm and less on 2700 rpm.
balancers are off and looking for 4000awhp on the cx7.
i honestly got used to daily drive this clutch (even my wife) however everybody else tries to move the car is on constant wtf mode.
chatter is a problem as many of the plastics in the cabin are complaining and having both knees operated after acl I definitely have to go back to oem pedal and chatter.

question is on endurance (car is dd and city going and heavier than ms6) and chatter.As I understand pedal feel has nothing to do with dual discs of any kind so one problem will be solved.

so people who are using st3 endurance with similar power and a lot of miles how would you comment on driveability/endurance/chattering-vibrations ?
