You can read peoples views on them here: southbend-clutch-speed6

I can confidently say that they are the best clutch for our cars. Better engagement than act, less shatter, will hold alot of torque ect ect.

Think the link in the stage3 section for the endurance clutch might be wrong (pointing to the stage2 endurance option?).

Their part numbers are so damn confusing.

I ordered the stage2 option from RealTune's website, and the part list I got in the box states that it is part # 'KMZDSP SS TZ' but that doesn't seem to match any of their part numbers from their website. It closely matches the stage3 endurance option (KMZDSPD SS TZ) though. My clutch disc material felt like Kevlar FWIW...I'm hoping it is the stage3 option, since the pedal feel is barely heavier than stock. I am thinking of trying to push over the 400wtq line.

Wish you guys started selling these earlier this season, I defintiely would have bought one from you.

FYI everyone, these are a few bucks cheaper than realtune ($20 cheaper for the clutch I ordered).
Not 100% sure but i think real Tune use a modified clutch plate (different material) hence they don't offer different categories for each stage.

That is a difficult decision... I think I would take a twin disc over the South Bend, if money wasn't an issue, but as far as bang for buck goes, you can't go wrong with South Bend.

These are very good clutches. I would definitely take one of these over the ACT if money isn't an issue. Not saying ACT is bad, just saying South Bend is better. No overly aggressive pedal, and can hold loads of torque.

They make clutches for a lot of extreme diesel trucks and stuff like that which need to hold tons of torque. And now they are making them for import cars like the mazda. So they no what it takes to make a clutch hold some torque.

These are really good clutches! They are quite capable of holding up to the abuse of a lot of torque.

I have a relined oem disc by South Bend with the stock flywheel and pressure plate, the quality was perfect, the measurements were spot on, and the customer service was awesome. This is the second time I have ordered from them and I haven't been disappointed yet.

Normally backwards clutch disc and you aren't getting that transmission back in, but it could be different with the getrags on the speeds. Maybe the fork is not seated on the trans properly

Thanks for your help. I had a hunch that there was still air in the slave and what I did was take it off and position it that the bleeder was pointing straight up then bled it that way. Put it back on and everything is nice and smooth now.

That's good to hear man, always sucks to take apart something twice when it's something like a trans so that's good

Good to hear its working, i'm waiting on mine to be shipped. How does the engagement feel, and what spec did you get.

I have the stage 3 endurance. Engagement is very smooth and easy with a slightly stiffer pedal and just a bit more chatter than stock. Its a great performance clutch without losing drivability. Can't wait to really beat on it.

South bend says not to launch hard in the first couple hundred miles, plus its mated to a newly built motor which is breaking in as well.

Looks like I know which clutch I will be going with in a couple of months. This car loves keeping my pockets empty.

What type of lifespan could one expect from the stage 2 endurance kit? Haven't been able to find any info on that, probably because there haven't been enough people running them long enough.

My stock clutch has started slipping with 97k miles on it, 12-13k miles since installing the BNR S3.I'm making the power in my sig, strongly considering going with an oem replacement after speaking with some people on here about it, but the Southbend option is intriguing. I just don't want to have to replace the clutch again 20k-30k miles down the road. I don't auto x or drag race my car (I've been to the drag strip 3 times in 4 years and don't see myself going much more), but I do go WOT on a daily basis while driving around town.

Its hard to give a good estimate of lifespan on a clutch because it depends very heavily on the driver. Also, you are correct. There are not enough Mazdaspeeds running this clutch for long enough to have any basis to go off of.

I just got my stg3 Daily Driver installed on Friday.. The clutch pedal feel to me is nothing like stock, it's really heavy and stiff, hard to push back. Has any one else experienced the same thing?
I read an earlier post that his pedal was barely different than stock feel but a little more chatter than stock, which by the way I have zero chatter!
Any Ideas on the heavy pedal?

i got about 1k on mine so far. it was stiff for a wile but seems normal now. egagment seemed close to floor but that has got better and again feels normal almost stock like now. i used to have work hard to get the tires to chrip 3rd now it does with ease. i got the stage 3 430lbs. i couldnt be happier. sbc is the best option we have now. i also have less vibs now. the stock fw was fucked at 63k it was fallin apart.
