Default block heater

Anyone using one? Know where one can be found?

Seems like there's is one that fits behind the exhaust manifold but there's no real clear guide.

Thanks

yeap there's one model for 2.3L turbo...I installed one on my speed6. I'll update my post with part number and price when I'll be back at work!
If you want, I could check if I have the oem installation guide or I could write a "How to"
...let me know!
part# 0000-88-23TB-CA 55.95$ (CAN std price)

No time till next wednesday (20 nov.) for dismentle and pictures...sorry!
But I'll put it all together and come back with the How-to. Because of the lack of space between the engine/turbo, tools are very important...

Don't have a lot of pictures (not enought time to dismentle all the parts) but I hope it will help...Let me know if you have some questions!
-Drain the coolant (3-4L)

-Remove: -battery/rack
-air cleaner box/hoses/pipe (everything up to the turbo)
-move wiring harnes next to intake pipe for more room
-EGR valve
-You have to remove the first exhaust manifold stud. Loose the nut than the stud

I use a snap-on E7 key for the stud.

Now you have enought room to unscrew the plug with a 14mm allen-key and ratchet wrench

you can put the block-heater in the plug hole with 15/16 head-wrench and 3/8 ratchet

I use Tye-rap for the block-heater wire(already have heat wraping) to secure from manifold/turbo heat. Put everything in place. Be carefull to not over-tork the stud, EGR valve with new gasket...fill with new coolant

the weather is not cold enough so I won't try it till 1-2 weeks. I'll leave some data (outside/coolant temp.) as soon as I try the blockheater.

First off, sorry for reviving an old thread... just saved a speed6 from its previous owners and I just realized that it needs a block heater, it will definitely not survive a winter where I live.

Really I'm just curious if there are any new tips/tricks that anybody has for this install since my dealer plans to charge me $500 in labour to install it... that and any torque specs you guys have would be more than handy! Or maybe an official install guide? I like to have many views of the installs I do

Thanks and sorry for the revival again... not exactly much information on this topic that I could find

This summer I actually installed one on my ms6, I went to the dealer and they gave me a plug that's used for the regular 2.3L since it's a similar block. The parts guy had to do some parts cross referencing. It installed nicely, was a pita though with where the frost plug is... Haven't used it yet, but it's not leaking from there either hahaha

i was going to look for an universal in hose heater for mine. I would install it on the bottom hose as close as possible to the bloc.
Opening a frost plug is some kind of a pita and recipe for leaks but it get better heating results....
I just endedup replacing the fuse of my remote car starter...

Got one ordered, managed to find it at a dealership that had one on the parts shelf. Comes with sealant on the plug, just screw the block heater in the same depth as the frost plug + quarter turn and should be fine.
