Default Extended warranty

At the risk of getting flamed, I was wondering if anyone has real experience with extended warranties?

Who has one, which one, why did you pick it, what has your experience been with the service you have received with the warranty company?

Just want to hear from people who have a warranty, and have experience with the warranty company.

I had a couple Hondas that came with Hondacare warranties, and they worked well for us, but the MS doesn't have the same rep as the Civic, and the Mazda warranty on the surface costs more, covers less and is more restrictive than Honda.

Just wondering what others think.

In short, if you're thinking you're going to keep the car until it dies...warranty may pay off...if you're thinking about selling it after it reaches XX# miles, then it still might increase the value of the car.

Now...the ONLY extended warranty that's worth getting IMHO is the Mazda-backed one. If you get a 3rd party one, you're simply giving that company a grand or two and asking them to invest it how they please and never give you anything in return for it.

You are asking these guys about extended warranty? Some of these guys have flashed the ECU under 2k miles which could get work denied under warranty. If you are worried about having a car with an extended warranty perhaps you should have considered a Camry.

I bought my used pu from a Honda dealer and purchased an extended warranty, I don't remember what kind, how many years, or mileage, but I do know that I have bumper to bumper coverage and I can take it to any Mazda dealer and be completely covered...paid a pretty penny for it though, not entirely sure if it was worth it......

If you're going to mod the car at all, you'll be throwing your money away on that warranty.

I purchased the warranty when I bought my vehicle in Feb. of this year. 2010 model with 12k miles so the factory warranty was going to expire fairly soon. I plan on keeping this car till it dies, which hopefully is going to be a long ways down the road. As far as mods go, I've pretty much done everything I'm going to do. (See sig/not much). Although I do have a set of rims on the way. Other than that with the mods I have it's very easy for me to stock out in case I do have to bring it in to the dealer.

We had one, and using it was pretty easy when used for CX-7. We had to still show service records, etc.

Even then, for them to deny you warranty work they have to prove that the mod caused or impacted the problem...(usually if you have a good repor with your dealer you shouldn't have any issues)
