It isn't a big deal whether you're in warranty or not. If Mazda will fix it for free it's a little inconvenient or you can fix it like me for 8 dollars with some black rtv adhesive and a 10 lb weight and let it sit overnight.

Add me to the list. 2011 with 62k miles.
I noticed the separation above the Info Screen a long time ago, but it recently "Popped Up" where it looks really bad now. I was out of warranty when I first noticed, and I'm not holding my breath that Mazda will fix it, so I may try to repair myself....

Took to my dealer in Pcola this week and received a quote for almost $900 to replace the dash. No help from Mazda, but service manager suggested to call Mazda North America for an appeal. I'm not sure if that will help or not.

The dash is separated enough to put my fingers in the slot now....

I'be decided to trade or sell the car....dealer offered $, but low.
I'be found an 06 MS6 or an 08 MS3 I'm interested in. Good luck to the rest of you on this issue. It's obviously a serious defect in design.

You're selling because of the dash issue? Just RTV it or pay for the repair. Makes a lot more sense than selling and buying another speed.

Selling for other reasons as well...this was just the cherry on top. I'm getting an older gen to eliminate a payment since I am also paying on another family vehicle and I have a work vehicle,. My Speed just sits most of the time anyway.

Just started getting the dash seperation this week. 2011 with 40k on the dial. That is with me using the sunshade when the vehicle is parked for weeks and months at a time.

I have a VERY positive update to share. It took several weeks, but Mazda just called me back last Tuesday and has offered to replace the dash for me at my local dealership. It was worth the time spent to call Mazda Corporate!.

Originally they were going to cover half the cost, but after they realized I am a die hard Mazda fan who has owned more than 15 vehicles....they decided to take care of me the customer. The representative was very professional and called did exactly what he said he would. Do, and exactly when he said he would. I am extremely happy with the customer service.

The parts are unfortunately on back order (as you can imagine), so as soon as the parts arrive I am already scheduled for the repair. Fortunately, my dealership service department is run by people who own the same Mazdaspeed 3 that I do

I will update when the repairs are completed.

Thanks for the update! Sounds like I just need to buy 14 more Mazdas before I can have my dash replaced.

I would suggest giving them a call. I honestly don't know if they even know how many Mazdas I have owned, especially since I have only purchased one of them as a new vehicle.

For those of you with lower mileage it should definitely be a factor in your favor as well.

Mazda knows this is an issue and almost every single owner I know has this issue to one degree or another.

Call Mazda and see what they will do.

Over the summer my dash started to separate just above the nav/clock area. I was able to get mine repaired at my local Mazda dealership with no charge.

Hi guys,

This is my first post! I noticed the separation sometime in August. It's 2011 Mazda 3s sport 26k miles living in TX. I got very upset since I am not very satisfied about the overall mazda assembly quality. My opinion is that this dashboard has too many parts which can be source of creeks and squeeks...
Anyway, Mazda service contacted HQ and they agreed to cover the replacement of dashboard. I was not sure since it seems like an overkill but I am afraid it might get worse.
Took car in today.

Keep yo posted after replacement.

Update:
PARTS STILL ON ORDER! It's taking forever to get parts, so I asked what the holdup is. The Dealership says there is a large backorder for the new dash & installation kit. So, even though Mazda has offered to repair my dash, I have no idea how long it will take fir the parts to come in. I will update....

I work at a Mazda dealership and it usually only takes 3 to 4 days max for parts. Normally its only 2 days though.

I'm not sure why it's taking so long. It's unusual.....
I do trust the service manager since she is a big NATOR local memeber of this forum and drives a Red 2010 MS3 herself. Not only that, but her husband owns a Black Genpu too.
I will try to talk to her again to see if there is another update.

Well I would imagine a whole dashboard is more of a special order part than something Mazda stocks in bulk in their warehouses; you even said before it was on back-order.

My replacement dash has finally arrived. The Service Manager stated that since this is such a widespread problem it has been difficult to get parts. The replacement dash is a redesigned part and Mazda has decided to cover the replacements for an extended period of years and miles. I will have to look up exactly how many miles and how many years but they know it's a problem and they are doing something about it now. I'm scheduled for installation next week.

Yeah, I'd be interested to know the years/miles. Mines been messed up for over a year, but due to working so much, i've never had time to fix it. Hoping it isn't anything crazy.

I got that as well. This is apparently now covered by warranty.

Looks like that is for a sticky issue, not separation.

What is the number you guys have used to contact Mazda for the separation issue?

I think this is the number I used to call Mazda North-America:
(800)222-5500

My Dash is now installed and looks brand new again. It took a while for my dealer to get parts, but the service was awesome, and Mazda followed through on their promise in covering as a warranty item.

As for that above notice, it does not appear to be related to the dash separation issue, so I would still call Mazda North-America and ask them to help.

You MUST to go to a dealer & have them submit it under warranty request FIRST. They will deny it if you are out of warranty, but then you can call Mazda North-America and ask them to help.

Wife called me to tell me this happened to our car too, she noticed it about a month ago but it started to get worse.. Also our dealer in our area said they wont fix it due to the warranty being up. Im 95% sure we have an extended warranty but I have no idea where to check on that..

Year is a 2012, around 40k miles on it..

That looks as bad...or worse than mine did at 60k miles. Do you live in the south somewhere?

That dash shouldn't even be a question to get covered under the regular warranty. It's obvious that the problem started BEFORE the 36k mile warranty was up.

I personally had to have the dealer submit the claim and when it was denied on paper I called Mazda North-America and they ended up helping me out. The price to repair was almost $900.

I hope you can find a way to get that repaired by Mazda.

I live in Southern California, since my cars are all parked outside I would say the summer heat is what got to it. I think the hottest it got last year in my area about about 110 F..

Since I am away right now for work I will have to deal with this when I get back.. It would be suck if Mazda doesn't own up to it and fix it, but it's not the end of the world.. I would much rather spend 900 bucks on something that I know will last longer than 3 years..

I got a letter from Mazda in the mail about two weeks ago referring to this issue. Basically stated if you payed to have it replaced they will reimburse you and if not then when parts become available they will swap it out at the dealer of my choice. I have a 2010 model bought in late 09 with 80,000 miles so no warranty here. I guess they are finally accepting the fail.

Oh yeah, still holding like a champ even with it baking in the sun all day without one of those windshield reflectors. Car is kept outside, no garage.

that's exactly what mine looks like...

the dealership (Cardinale way Mazda in Mesa AZ) I took mine last weekend to just said you are shit out of luck. They acted like it was just something natural wear and tear. compared it to having glass or an other broken plastic trim piece replaced under the extended warranty. they wouldn't even come out and look at it. I am glad to hear some people are having better luck and I will call Mazda North America to pursue this more.

I had my car parked in the Texas sun today for ~5 hours, and when I got back in the car I noticed the glue had come undone and caused this same separation issue. I plan on fixing it myself. I have some of the Permatex Black Silicone Adhesive (https://www.permatex.com/products/ad...esive-sealant/) in my garage, and was wondering if that's the same thing @Wizkid817 used?

I was also considering using 3M double sided tape (3M Super Strong Automotive Attachment Tape) and a 10lb weight or so to hold it in place. Would this work, or would it be best to just use the Permatex?

Thanks in advance.

Update: tried the 3M tape and a weight to hold it down...with no luck.

Yeah I don't how far along yours is but on mine the tabs behind the computer broke off. There is no fixing it with tape once that happens. This is a horrible design and should be fixed without having to jump through hoops. I'm very disappointed with Mazda on this one.

Yeah, that's the stuff. Mine is still holding strong. Just make sure you clean whatever excess there is so it doesn't adhere to anything else. I didn't have any problems with it getting inside the display but be careful. I didn't use a ton of it but plop the weight down afterwards and let it sit overnight.

Cool. I'll try it at some point. What part did you apply the adhesive to? I would assume the edge on the top of the screen where it would connect to the dash?

Thanks

I attached the nozzle and then cut it so only a small amount of adhesive could come out. Lifted it lightly as the dash wasn't too bad but noticeable the squeezed it in and slid it from side to side to get full coverage. Pressed it down with my fingers then put a cloth down to not leave marks on the dash from the weight then put it down. Lifted the cloth and cleaned up any overflow. Used an exacto knife to trim any visible after it set.
