Im going to go ahead and assume that running dexos oil will on regular 93 isn't going to fuck anything up correct? How often are you doing your UOAs?

Uhh, I do UOAs when I change the oil. Pump gas on Dexos oil won't hurt anything. Fuel dilution on e29 was next to zero, so I don't see why that would change for you.

A list of GM licensed dexos1 brands, or at least the first result returned from google anyway...

Note Dexos1 spec only applies on oil weights up to 5w-30. For those that use heavier weight oils, you're SOL.

I switched to full E on 10/12/2014 and it hasn't seen 93 since. Somewhere around 8-8.5k miles. Erections still as firm as day one.

For me personally, and this thread, I simply piggybacked what @littleloogy; was up to and documented. I drive a lot of miles so I figured I could be of use.

I'm up for trying another oil at my next change, though it will be another 3 months or so. If I switch to another Dexos and have any issues we'd know for sure it was oil related. 8.5k miles or so now on the RP without a single issue.

Well, this tells me why every time I ordered from Amazon, no matter how specific I was that I wanted 5w40 with the dexos label on the front, it was always the "European formula" that came.

The Castrol EDGE with Titanium 5w30 is at my Local Walmart. It has the Dexos1 label on it.

But i thought other members have tried some other dexos1 oils without the same luck.

Don't worry, I am working on it. Just waiting for my slow season to start so I can finish my project. After I get done I'll have @MSP6; do another cool write up with arrows and shit.

This would be great, because i'm not replacing mine again, unless there's a guarantee it will work with e85.

I hear that! Wish the mods would give the gen 2 section a E85 fueling category. Hate posting my work in gen one. I feel like a colored man trying to go to a white man school in the 60's

I think it would be better if the E85 section were generation independent.

Funny story... I found another way to endless corn. Absolutely no death. No dirty spill valves... Spotlessness. This redline method is soo last year.

@MSP6; I think you need to update the photo of the button valve still. You've got my spring pictured (which isn't what a normal one looks like) and you're instructing people to put the button valve assembly into where the internals go. Might wanna fix that.

@Enki; As far as the spring, I was just too lazy to change the pictures...but the other one, doh. Rushed the first post it would seem and copied the wrong picture. Surprised no one (myself included) caught that sooner.

Please retract any and all "thanks" in this thread because numnum OP.

Nah just fix it and it will be fine. I'm sure you can scalp photos from somewhere. Worst case pull the spill valve and snap a couple pics.

Posted this in the other thread, but figured it's relevant here also, so just copy/pasting.

So just an update, decided to pull the spill valve (no problems, just curious) to see what it looks like. Now this is after ~4k miles on e, ~2k miles on 50/50, ~500 miles on 93, ~500 miles on 50/50, and ~100 miles so far on e (currently running full corn)

A very light "dusting" on the spill valve, that wiped right off as soon as I touched it, and that was it. Everything looks excellent.

Wouldn't it be funny if everything we are doing is not helping? And it's the fuel itself that is getting fuel cleaning additives added? So we think we have a cure, but really was not even us? Maybe someone should verify that Black Death is still in existence...

I do have a couple of stock internals lying around. Also, since relocating my battery to the trunk, I could probably pull the pump, switch everything, and put it back in about 30 minutes.

If there was a decently cool day coming up, I would do this. But fuck getting stuck on the road in Florida heat right now.

It is. My local test car needed a rebuild even with Redline on T6 and hasn't had an issue since converting to RP. Oil is half the fight, Redline is the other half.

Would still love to see if other dexos oils yield the same results or if the Royal Purple has something special

My vote is for Mobil 1 as the first test. Seems to be readily available everywhere

How about Penzoil Ultra Dexos?

Guys keep in mind it may take more than one change to recover if the current oil doesn't work well.

I didn't think Mobil 1 was that bad lol.

I was looking at dexos1 Brands | GM for the global oils... but found most of them were not available here in Australia.
Only ones that I found that I could get from the local auto parts store and I think are in the USA with similar availability were:

- Mobil 1
- Valvoline SynPower (Seems to be many different versions, DX-1 is the dexos version)
- Shell Helix Ultra (but couldn't see that it was dexos approved locally)
- Castrol EDGE (again couldn't see that it was dexos approved locally)

I think the main point is to see if the RP is special or other oils are just as good so happy for you to try whatever and I will also do some testing one my car has been repaired. I have another option that seems to be more an Aussie brand that the Holden (GM) guys use for their flex fuel cars
