Also for installation of coilovers instead of going through the hassle of undoing the rear end links(unless your changing them out) just undo the sway bar brackets! Makes for just as easy of an install

Sonic Tuning,

Can you comment on your shocks? Whether it's in-house or sourced from another manufacturer?

If it's in-housed, how's the quality?

I'm fully rolled and with some camber i can tuck tire right until it hits the bump stops. no rubbing. its at low speeds over smaller bumps that i hear clunks. i went over everything again and i still get them, front and rear. its less annoying now that i have 4 pretty solid motor mounts.

im still playing with swaybar endlinks to see if that was causing it. the awr's have quite a bit of adjustability.

I hear clunks in the rear now going over bumps, I think its the perch but idk. Is there any specific way of installing the perch? I got it on max low with both locking rings tight at the top. I know the perch rests on this bolt within the whole assembly at the top, I think thats what's causing the noise because it shifts when hitting bumps.. but idk.

Also if I wanted it more low in the back could I remove both locking rings to get more of a drop or would that be a bad idea? Currently my fronts can go alot lower than the rear, but im satified with the front, the back is just a tad higher in mm..

I think the bolt is actually supposed to go through the perch in your case.

Maybe sure you adjust them while the car is loaded, easier if you jack it up and load it on a ramp. Or alignment rack would work too!

The inner are Made in Japan, we tested 4-5 different type of shocks. This had the best seal from all of our testing.

Make sure the bolt go through the rear perch, not on top of it.

This was a noob mistake on my part, but just so others dont have the same issue...

Make sure that when you are setting spring preload either the entire front half of the car is in the air, or your sway bar endlinks are disconnected from the strut. i set my preload one side at a time and didnt pay attention to the sway bar, so they were super loose for a while. like three inches too loose. Made me think all sorts of crazy stuff was happening.

Now that everything is dialed in how i want it.... These are amazing. I have zero complaints about daily driving characteristics and im at 7/8 clicks (f/r). Love these coils. Thanks sonic tuning!

^ I did the same thing! I still have issues when going slow or over bumps going slow in the front right side. I'm pretty sure it’s the endlink either not tight enough or not measured out right. I had the preload so low that the height of the car was super low. I do think that Sonic should provide shorter springs for the front to match how low the rear can go. My fronts are maxed out and there is still two to 1 1/2 finger gap. The rear I had maxed out and it was like 1 finger to 1/2 a finger. The option to go low is nice that's why the shorter spring would be better. I think the ride height is perfect with the way I have it now. I am waiting for my friend to get the pictures we took off his camera and then I will post them up. Car handles really well, even with bald stock tires.

I did notice in the front that when you are maxed out, you will still have an inch of threads showing between the top two collars and the bottom collar. From what I understand, when the coilovers are maxed out, there should be no threads showing, but I could be wrong. I tried threading the top collar down and it is too tight to even use a hammer to hammer down on.

When you are installing the rear you don’t have to remove the sway bar completely. Just loosen the 4 14mm bolts that hold the sway bar up and let it swing down to release the pressure on the spring carrier piece. I did have one issue with one of my sway bar bolts, I think I made it too tight and now when I loosen the bolt it doesn’t come out and when you tighten it goes tight and then loose again, so be careful with those.

Tools that I didn’t have that would have made this install a breeze:
Huge steel mallet to get front struts out. I used 2x4s and a hammer. Ended up going through like 4 piece of wood because I split them. I hammer each side for like an hour.

PB BLASTER is a MUST. It is also a MUST to spray everything the night before!

BREAKER BARS, short and long to break tight ass bolts such as the rear perch bolt, and bottom endlink bolt.

Power snap on drill to save time, it might save you a good 30 mins if not more.

Overall,

Take your time; it took me a good three days to get everything installed and then another 2 weeks to get everything properly installed. These coilovers are really really good quality. The struts are super beefy at the bottom compared to k sport which I like. 12 way adjusting is perfect for noobs like me that don’t want to fiddle with a knob for 5 mins.

What I really loved about the Rear adjustment is that I could jack up the car and squeeze my arm in the wheel well and adjust the damper. All other coils have you adjust from the trunk which is a pain in the ass.

On the rear strut, I forgot to put the OEM ugly cover back over the top of the strut, but it’s not really needed unless you are going to drive in the snow or extreme weather. I might throw them on winter time.

I am very satisfied with all the customer support sonic has provided me while attempting this install. I kept called and called and they helped me through the most difficult parts of the install. Great coilovers!! Highly recommended!!!

Wei,

Did y'all come out with a how-to or directions for install yet?

Would be nice so everyone knows exactly what they need to do to install these correctly.

I'm working on one. It's pretty straight forward and easy if you've done coilovers before. The only difference is the rear spring collars, you have to remove a subframe bolt in order to get it installed, that was the only pain in the ass and not because of the coilovers itself, but the bolt was just really hard to get off. Otherwise it's a 3 hour install with height adjustment. I've been on these for a few days and I can say it's leaps and bounds above the H&R coilovers. I've almost got these dialed in, just need to fine tune it, but the ride is nice and the handling is amazing. Now I just need some new tires lol

Awesome, I've only done h&r coils on a gen1 before. I'm sure it won't be that much different to install on a gen2. Won't be doing it till end of July, beginjg of August.

Yeah basically the same as the H&Rs height adjustment is different, damper adjustment obviously and spring preload. Oh and drilling the hole bigger on the front upper strut mount. All in all a really good set of coilovers. I can;t wait to get these on the track

What's different about the damper adjustment and spring preload?

Guess I'll figure it out, Ive never done either, but I know the damper adjustment you just spin the thing on top to what you want. Not sure about the spring preload.

Preload is kind of tricky, too much it will be bouncy too little and it will be soft. Whenever you do damper adjustment always remember to turn it to full hard then go softer from there.

Can you elaborate more on how these Sonics Tuning coilovers are better than the H&R coilovers in your opinion? Thanks!

end links are needed whenever you drop the car, its just a function of the suspension geometry that you should account for.

Any thoughts from people that actually push their car?

I understand they're a new product, but I am looking for opinions on weekend warrior activities(especially 3's) Auto-x, twisties, etc
