My brother had his bachelor party last weekend, lots of car guys there, and one guy shows up in a 2014 Focus ST. Nice car and all, he took me for a ride in it and it was quick. I prefer my MS6, but to each his own.

What got me is the guy claimed his ST had 300whp/370wtq with nothing but an E30 tune. Literally bone stock except for the tune. I've read a bunch of magazine and internet reviews of the ST, but don't know much about what those cars are capable of when it comes to mods. I wanted to call BS on the guy, but didn't know enough to back it up.

What do y'all think? Sounds kinda ridiculous to me. When I was fully bolted and tuned on the k04 I was at 300awhp/350awtq, though I wasn't using E85 and I have powertrain loss from awd.

300whp/370wtq is a little bit of an exaggeration - but not much...

Hell, you don't need a fully bolted MS3 to blow way past 300whp - just an intake, TP, HPF and a tune gives you that. The K03 is their limitation... but a well tuned ST vs the average MS3 gives the advantage to the ST. It's funny that Justin at Freektune is brought up, because he's said just as much. You hear just as much fanboi bullcrap on their forums as you do here. Both cars are capable of some pretty nice numbers... given equal mods and an equivalent tune on the stock turbo the MS3 will win; however - how many fucktards here are still on OTS tunes with questionable mods? hmmm?

Like I said glad I didn't assume anything then. Some of the things you said could have easily pertained to me as I have a small intake, sots, and was the one to mention Justin. How my thoughts may wander haha. Btw, im on number 4 of an old chub 16oz nitro. I had intended to let one of my narwhals sit for a year due to the heat but damn is that difficult sometimes. Cheers!

Cool, I didn't think it was likely that a stock ST with nothing but a tune could put down those numbers. It certainly didn't feel like it when I rode in it, though it was pretty quick.

On a slightly different note, the hatchback leaves a lot to be desired in the ST. There really isn't much storage room in those things. The trunk of my MS6 seems way bigger in comparison.

Judging by the log I looked over today you are very far from just a regular "ots" performance wise

A stock ST on E85 is not going to get to 300whp even in the coldest of climates. It will get to those peak torque numbers however very briefly.

I pulled 2-3cars on an ST on my 50/50 mix. Afterwards I told him he should get tuned on ethanol, he said he was on E30. Oops!

A similarly modded speed vs st and speed will win no doubt. 2-3 cars isn't the end if the world for him. 2-3 buses would have just been an embarrassment.

A fully bolted ST with a strong E85 tune will flirt with and sometimes (rarely) break the 300whp mark. Any MS3 with full boltons and 50/50 E85 will get up to 320whp easily if not more, on a healthy engine with a solid tune you're talking 330 or so.

No way in hell a stock ST with E30 will be breaking 300s, maybe a fuckload of TQ down low, but it just won't have the airflow for it.
