Oh, and I'm currently waiting on my injector seals from CP-E... which have been "processing" since FEB 2nd.

I've emailed them, got a response today asking if the issue had been solved.
Told them no.

So now I'm waiting for a response to see what's going on.

Once I get my seals, I will be contacting SP63 and getting the build started.

Okay, so there was a car show/charity event this past Saturday and they had $50 dyno pulls so I decided to throw my car on there, low compression cylinder and all.
I had faith my car would be more than capable to do some pulls and not vent the block on me.

I was pleasantly surprised to get 333whp 355wtq.

The best part was shutting down all the v8 heads in the crowd.
I was hearing moaning and groaning as my car was being loaded up... even stupid low guesses of 160whp.
I drove off the rollers with a stupid grin on my face and new found respect from a lot of muscle/classic car guys.

Dyno sheet and vid are attached.
The guy running the dyno believed I was having spark blow out issues, hence the jumpy power curve.

Does the car drive smoothly on the road? It looked smooth in the video and it's nice to see it put down some good numbers on pump!

The shape of the curve looks quite odd - perhaps there was a pickup issue.

The car feels smooth to me when i drive it.

Myabe it was an issue with where they hooked up things, because other cars had very smooth curves and others were even more wonkey than mine.

But I was very happy to get the numbers I did with cylinder 3 showing 150 compression.
And it really surprised all the muscle/classic car guys at the event.
Me and a 5th gen Civic were the only 4 bangers.
The Civic went 2 cars ahead of me and only put down 120whp, it was a single over head cam, so I didn't expect much more from it.
So when I was stageing, people were moaning and groaning about another 4 cylinder being put on the dyno.

It must have been a pickup issue of sorts. If the torque curve indeed had those bumps you would really feel it.

I'm sure it was... I think the open dump tube being so loud is also what made him think it was bad plug gapping. Because it almost sounds like it's surging, which I know it's not because I keep a close eye on my AP when I go out and play.

And when I do a VD based on my datalogs, everything looks pretty smooth.

GOOD NEWS!!!
My cp-e injector seals should be here Monday.
When they show up, I just need to talk with my friends to see if they'll be available to help with the motor swap... and then contact SP63 to start my build!

Emptied my OCC today and this crud slowly oozes out.
It took forever to drain.
Of course, this makes me worry so as soon as i finish, i check my oil.
Thank God it looks normal.

Any idea as to what could cause this?

I know I'm going built block soon, but I would still like to know what causes this thick crud vs the thin blackish liquid that I'm used to.

Looks normal to me.

I actually have a bottle full of blow-by, so...

Left side is what it looks like when it's settled -- right is shaken up.

It's just new to me how it's sludge coming out.

I've had the car since it had 15 miles on it. It now has 100,600 miles.
I empty my occ every 5,000 miles and it was always dark in color and thin in viscosity.

It wasn't until recent that it turned into this light colored sludge.
The last time I emptied it, it was a mix of dark with a little bit of light.
This time, it was straight this crap.

So you can understand why I'm a bit worried.

I don't know if there's any real correlation, but when I was using Pennzoil Ultra my blow-by ALWAYS came out looking like that. It wasn't abnormal for me to have to slap the catch can around a little to get the flow going.

I haven't been on Rotella for too long, but i've noticed the blow-by being darker and flowing more easily.

I've been running T6 for about 60,000 miles.

The only thing that's changed in the past 10,000 miles was upgrading to the gtx3071r.
It seems like every since I did that, the catchings went from dark/thin to light/thick.
I also have lost some compression in cylinder 3 within the past 10,000 miles as well.

So maybe these 2 things have something to do with it.

How quickly are you going through oil? As you get more blowby the look of it can change as the mixture of the contents start to be less water and more oil. This is probably what you are seeing. There is always water in there - your oil is not looking like this - but if you are getting more oil in there than usual then the look and feel of the contents will change as it mixes with the usual condensation.

It was 1/2 quart every 2,000 miles.

But when i just checked my oil, it was about 1/2 quart low and it had only been around 800 miles since I had did my oil change.
But I did just hit the dyno not to long ago. So I'm sure that's why it had burned up more than usual.

After that the break in period will feel like the longest wait Once it's done and you will start tuning again hopefully the tune updates will start flowing to your liking.

I have a good feeling we can squeeze some more power out of the new engine vs stock block before I have to go alt fueling.

I'm very excited to have a good healthy longblock that I can push w/out fear of zzb.

A fresh motor always allows for more power. Glad to hear this is around the corner!

What, that? Well, it a money eating machine which will give you a lot of wooshes and thrills and will feed your smiley face and vanity for quite a while to keep your teenager soul alive.
Keep your trunk and back seats clean, you will have to recover your balls from there from time to time.

Good luck!

Thanks!

I'm hoping to be able to swap motors in the next couple of weeks.
Myself and 2 friends need to coordinate scheduals where all 3 of us have a weekend off.

Should be a great setup. The GTX3071 on a built motor is a very capable setup.

Hopefully everything i need shows up tomorrow.
Waiting on a valve cover gasket, water pump, and thermostat.
This has me nervous as hell because the tear down starts tomorrow afternoon.

Friday night went smoothly.

Saturday... was a bit different.
It started off good, but we made the mistake of thinking we could pull just the motor... wrong -_-
had a hell of a time getting thr trans mounted back to the motor.
then fought for around 3 hours to get the driver's axle out of the transmission.

Sunday, not so bad at the beggining.
Had a battle removing the fuel rail, since it has never been removed in the 105,000 miles I have owned the car.
Then we couldn't get the pilot bearing out from the old motor so i had to hit up a parts store, just to find out what the have for an MS3 it totally wrong. So i went back up to them and they looked up one for an MS6 and it was the one we needed... wtf lol
Then I found out that the info I was told about the new motor having an external oil filter was totally wrong. In fact, it didn't have an oil filter housing at all. So i transfered mine over then had to go to the store to swap out oil filters so I had the correct ones.
We finally got the motor in, and started routing electronics... but then just threw in the towel due to frustration/exhaustion/and just plain sick of slipping and slidding all over the ground due to all the fluids.

Hopefully we will have her up and running either today or tomorrow.
I'll post pics when I have time.

Tomorrow should be the end of this journy and the beginning of the break in period.
Just need to change oil filter, put in break in oil, put on front support and crossmember, hook up radiator/ac/some plugs, fill with coolant, put on fmic/headlights/bumper... and that should be it!
Oh, and rear sway bar if we have the energy lol.

Good news: She runs! And sounds good and healthy. =D

Bad news: We think the cluch slave cylinder is bad because I can't get into gear. -_-

To the parts store... tomorrow.
Because I'm exhausted, nasty dirty, and hungry... and they're closed anyways lol

Okay. So no parts store around me carries a slave cylinder.
I had to order 1 from Mazda themselves.
I won't have it until Friday, so it will be Saturday when I get a change to change it out.
@Lex;
I found out another reason why we couldn't push my car's potential.
Not only did cylinder 3 have lower compression, the injector seal was bad as well.
And cylinder 2's injector seal was on it's way out as well.

So after i get things all figured out and she's 100%, we can really see what she can do with a nice healthy motor.

Are you going to crack open the old motor and inspect? Should be interesting to see what things look like.

Mainly two things:
1. a lot of brown/black gunk because of the extended use of rotella;
2. considering how fast he was going through oil and the low compression only on #3 , cracked ringlands on that piston;
...and 3., possibly but not necessarily light scratches on the main bearings and on the inside of the oil pump from the tiny bits that flew from the cracked piston.

All I did was take pics of the head after i took the valver cover, and intake/exhaust manifolds off.
I didn't want to pull anything apart due to it being my core.
But I am sure Pablo will let me know how it looks when he opens her up for inspection.

The head actually looked really good, no gunk at all.

When I have the time, I will be posting up pics as well as my 1st start up video.

The slace cylinder wasn't the culprit, but i'; happy i replaced it.
When we removed the og to inspect it, it literally fell apart and had crud in it.

We believe the clutch was installed backwards.
A lot of my friends showed up when we were doing the parts swap over from core to built LB, and they decided to pick up my clutch to look at it and i'm sure they didn't put it back the same way they found it.

Anyways, stock clutch is old and tired and i am not dropping the trans again just to flip it around.
So i ordered an South Bend stg3 endurance clutch kit with an new oem throw out bearing.

SHE RUNS AND DRIVES!!!!!!
I can't wait to break her in so I can re tune her into a beast =D

The stock clutch was installed correctly but I guess it gave up the ghost when we transferred it to the new block.

I will have pics and a video when I get a chance.
