alright.... im sitting down watching tv... just got home from doing some pulls. the install sort of went good.

took JCMS07 and I 2 hrs flat to pull everything off ...... thats when i made the decision to overprepare as always... and mock everything up so the lines....braclet etc etc fit perfectly when it came time to snug it all up.

ill go into more detail later but ill give u a quick run of what happened...

bracket - flawless
oil feed - flawless
oil return - flawless (no cutting needed
water to head- flawless
water to heater - big fucken problem.... i thought i tightened the fittings enough but when we started the car it started leaking like a mofo...... epic fail !!!!!!
cpe inlet - BIGGEST PIECE OF SHIT MADE YET OUT OF SILICONE!!!!!!!!!! fucker is so unevenly cut that a) it doesnt fully sit flush against the unmachined part of the turbo inlet b) its not even cut straight... so top has a 1/4 gap and bottom 3/4..... fuck this pos inlet

the install was pretty decent...my mocking shit up ate up another couple of hours.... and then the water leak was horrible... my heart dropped and the possibility of having to pull the turbo off again was more than i could take....the fitting (banjo closest to the block , in front of turbo) was impossible to get to... fortunately tony thought we should go buy some crows foot tools and after grinding them down so they would fit he buttoned it up for me and car ran leak free.

now.... i am running a hallman mbc and the car isnt really running as good as i hope it will in a week or so......

i turned the boost to let it hit 20...and it does....no creep...no spike....fucker holds like a steady needle.....only problem is that the boost comes in super slow........and i mean super sloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow...... i do not suspect any boost leaks cuz it holds.... im gonna research some but my first guess its that the wg isnt reacting quick enough or w/e...im not tuner... but doubt that this is how this turbo is supposed to run..... from what i am ready it could possibly be not enough preload ..... this motherfucker looks pretty in there so idk how good i can get to it in car....fml


im running basically my old ko4 map.... afrs are like 11.3s.... everythinbg looks peachy...just not hitting boost quick enough so it almost feels like im running a turbo twice this size.... any help and or suggestions would be most appreciated....

now... once i got it to 20 psi between 6-7k the car pulls pretty decent for not having a tune... i saw 280gm/s compared to my max of 250 b4.... so car will make some added power even untuned...but just not quick enough... i doubt i can even spin 2nd gear right now unless its close to 60mph when its about 7k lol....

anyways.... i got some pics...but my camera died and well shit just got complicated... for now im super happy the car runs and runs well....just not super strong so ill be patient with this.

p.s. im super tired right now... we started at 11am and i just got home 12 hrs later, we did another turbo swap and my axle seal...everything completed

slow boost onset, i would just double check all vacuum/mbc connections. electronic boost control should give you a little faster spool up vs mbc, but it shouldn't be that huge of a difference, especially with a quality mbc like you have.

I know for a fact he did test WG movement with an air compressor and set his 'rod length' so to speak at a good setting. since he's still got power up top it doesn't sound like it's a huge boost leak or something... i'm still thinking vacuum leak or perhaps a small boost leak. only time i had a boost leak that was significant it sounded really loud, all the air rushing out and escaping.

even if your WGA rod was at minimum length [11PSI] that 11 PSI should be there by 3K.

do you have the steel ball in the MBC? That could be the issue I guess. Ceramic = 6 PSI over WG and steel = 20+ over WG. Maybe if you are on the edge of what it will reach boost comes on slow.

A boost leak in your boost refrence line would actually bring on boost faster and it might over boost so that's not it.

ill do some looking over today. i really dont think its a leak cuz the fucker holds the boost spot on. when i adjusted the wga arm i did it so it could open a full 90 degrees....which means it had very lil preload compared to what i see u guys do.

ill check and log to see more data..im trying to keep an eye on everything and not blow up also haha

you should of left the wga alone. If you backed preload off you need to put it back. Mine hits 20psi by 3800. Im seeing about 325gs at this boost at 10degrees timing.

Good job on gettin it going. What happened to only 18psi????

well.....18psi sort of was missed with one too many turns of mbc.....lol

yeah i wont see full boost til 5k or so...then it hits and holds dead on. so im gonna try to pre load thw wga and see if that changes boost reaction time

I don't know much but I wouldn't think the preload would make that much difference..[overdrive an EBC yes but delay PSI by 2K no] I mean with no preload it is an 11PSI WG so are you seeing 11PSI at 3K ish and is slowley builds up to 20 by 5k?

and with my Hallman, set to 20PSI I was at 20PSI by 3.5K...then it held and this was with 11PSI preload so basically no preload.

ceremic/weak spring or steel ball/heavy spring in the hallman?

ok im awake..... weirdest thing... i got home at 11pm and i couldnt go to sleep until about 5am...idk why... anyways im off for the next 2 days and im o get started on the buttoning up process.... ill check for leaks both boost and exhaust. (althought exhaust are super easy to hear and boost i checked the only things we messes with on the install and tight as can be)

im o try to get my fat hands under the car and adjust the preload of the wga....

well this is what i found, the wga arm was longer than the closed resting position of the flapper... obviously when i messed with it trying to see how everything worked i must have fucked it up. even though i set it to a few revolutions shorter than closed...but w/e my bad ill assume.

anyways.... i shortened the rod maybe like 1/4 inch from the point where it slips over the pin without puylling it.... and since i had the mbc set pretty high 2nd gear went up to like 21 psi immediately at part throttle , so i dialed it all the way back and ill start from scratch again.

car feels strong as balls....barely touching 2nd would light em up like they were on water. so now i gotta figure out how much is too much preload....any thoughts? i dont want to have to re do this shit when i find out my wg isnt opening enough and i creep....


car is super hot now so i gotz to let it cool off and then im o switch back to light spring on mbc... but car seems to be spot on ill do some logs when i can adjust boost to a solid 16psi and no more.

im excited and pretty fucken worried too..... the other turbo swap we did yesterday ended up in a blown motor just a few hours ago..... so im treading with caution.

ill keep posting as i dial it in....and ill have some pics, but the person whos camera i borrowed is the person that blew up and i dont want to bother him with anything other than help.
