haha my back was all fvcked from doing my own install the day before, i pulled my intake mani to swap the relief valve on the fuel rail.

are you considering the cpe side engine mounts? they suggest that they will be available before christmas.

i asked him the same yesterday..... he had the ap plugged in so no dh monitoring....and wasnt logging.

he said he just overboosted and that was it....also no vacuum lines popped off.

intetresting...the tune should make no difference between a reg K04 and an SST so that would not be the cause...higher spring rate on the SST WGA should only give you less WGDC to achieve the same boost/load targets from the existing tune., if the WGA spring was higher.

something in the boost control system went wrong...did he switch to MBC by chance???

a mystery this is....

I didn't want to share this with the community until I had made my decision. A few days ago I got a pm from Christian @ COBB regarding Haltech having requested from him to help me boost tune my car with the new ATR releases in the hopes to perhaps set a base map for other 3071r IWG.

As dumb as my indecision might sound I have to consider a lot of things, my time , willingness to go out and log nightly etc etc.... I just got done installing the turbo and I just needed a day or so to think things out.

So anyways, after considering this I realize that this is a great opportunity both for myself and the community, Christian even offered to tune me with the MBC but hoped that I would switch over to a EBC so we could take advantage of the OEM boost control. I bought today a Grimmspeed 3 port EBC from Hamilton69 so hopefully within a week or so I'll have it in hand and installed to begin some logging for Christian.

That is where I am at right now.... in the meantime I will run the MBC. Thanks Kevin and Christian for taking the time.

I'll keep you guys posted.

Also, it has been recommended to me to add a .035 pill right after the boost source, which I will do.

I will keep you guys posted on the ebc/pill install and when we commence tuning.

Did Christian recommend the pill+EBCS? cause I was hoping to eliminate the pill with the GRIMSpeed EBCS and lower the WGDC table.

this may be the case. with the grimspeed, you may be able to bleed more air than the stock solenoid can, so you may not need the pill.

on my stock boost control solenoid, i used a .045 i think.

right on Lenny...Christian will def have your tune singing

BTW...my Grimmspeed EBC running in 3 port or Interrupt mode, doesn't require a pill. The EBC is interrupting the boost signal before it reaches the WGA instead of trying to bleed away boost signal. AFAIK any EBC in int mode doesn't require a pill. I just re-read the install instructions and they don't mention removing any factory pill. Just says to use a high pressure boost source.

Awesome fuckin news Lenny...If I could hit the thank you button 10 more times I would. I cannot wait for the results, also this is a solid way to go tuning wise. It only makes sense. You have gone through ALOT of trouble making sure each and every process of this build went as legit and smoothly as possible, it would only be right to finnish it off with a proper profesional tune.

I will keep a hold of my turbosmart mbc, but if Christain gets that grimspeed to work well, and I can have gear independent boost, oh yeah GOOD LUCK Lenny!!

Yeah I guess I misunderstood Christian.... he had told me to get a pill for a regular 2 port.... but since I told him of my purchase of the grimmspeed ebc he said a pill should not be needed.

So as soon as I receive the part from Hamilton69 I'll put it on and start working with Christian. One thing I wanted to mention to you guys, I know you guys want big numbers and expect great things, but you have to be realistic (and this is the main reason why I was hesitant to let my car be the testing vehicle for a 3071r base map) my car has a ton of miles (80k) , I burn a good qt of oil every 3-3500miles.... I am sure my compression is well below normal.... so I will always inherently make less power on the same set up as you guys with more solid engines..... please keep this in mind.

Remember that my car to make about 290whp needed to push 21-22 psi through the ko4 and with 100% meth.... so now , I am sure I can make 350whp.... but I doubt that it will happen with only 18psi.

oh ya..... we are getting way too serious on this thread ..... so I thought I would add a lil rice to the mix......

earlier I had bought a catch can to put in between the vc and the sri.... to my suprise this pos I bought isnt baffled (like a dumbass I assumed they all were.... after all wtf is the point of a fucken can if it doesnt have baffles) ...anyways... since the breather on the valve cover didn't evacuate crankcase pressure fast enough (valve cover started leaking) I went ahead and placed the CC between vc and sri..... I doubt oil will travel so easily now into my intake and my big beautiful turbo lol

looks mighty ricey also.... thats right bitches CF!!!!!!!!! hahhahahahah

Buy this stuff (or comparable) at your local hardware store... http://www.plumbersurplus.com/images...064-237669.jpg

that's what i used in my cheapo CC - I was able to shove about 2 of these pads into the CC from the drain bolt hole... They'll act as a baffle material and won't corrode from the oil...

Edit - make sure they're copper...

the problem with running steel wool or scotch brite pads is that u assume im gonna suck up enough liquid so fall to the bottom of the can .....

I do not think this is the case.... the oil will spread itself so thin that it crawls from the intake of the can along the topside of the can (inside of course) and into the outlet of the can. this is why u see a flat spread out pattern inside our SRI s ...... of course this is just an educated guess.

I am hoping I have enough feet of distance between the vc , the can and the sri that by the time the oil crawls up it willl be thin enough that it will dry.... over the next few months if everything goes according to plan I will see the one hose going into the can turn brown...but the one coming out of the can be clear still before the SRI.

if anything these dumbasses that made this can should have put at least a fucken divider between the inlet and outlet to make the oil work harder at going from one part of the can to the next.

but the shit looks rice huh? i mean nice

First, don't use steel wool - it'll rust/corrode.

Secondly, the oil/fuel vapors in the air will still swirl along the inside of the can. The baffling material will act to slow down the airflow, allowing the particles in the air to fall out. Also, the baffle material will be at a cooler temperature and facilitate the particles condensation out of the airflow... at least this is what I read when researching it..

Also, it seemed to work for me when I ran my unbaffled Weapon R CC before switching to the SM CCs...

Lastly, it'll still work better than not having it in there, even if it's not as efficient as a true baffled CC...

EDIT - just reread what you wrote, and although you may be correct about the oil oozing along the walls of the hose and CC, you still want to remove the particulates that are present in the air itself...

not anymore hal.... xtian himself asked me to get one.... he was willing to tune me via mbc, stock solenoid or ebc + oem bc

i picked the one most likely to be used by the community... the 3 port has the best rep

I am not going to pretend I have a clue about tuning, I am just going off the advice of Christian @ COBB that ensures me he has had great results using an EBC with the OEM BC and the AP.

I dont know anything ,.... so to me it's all new. I originally got the mbc because I saw BT after BT fail at trying to make the oem BC work.... so I said fuck it. but of course since then new ATR software has been released, and boost tuning is an option.

Steady boost ramp up with no spikes lenny. Get-er to 20 and holding. That's what you want. Then play with AFRs and timing.
