| Not Ranked : 0 score NP. Update. These pads rock. Wasn't that good initially but now they stop like mad. Too early to tell if they will dust bad or if they will grind my rotors away, but their stopping power is awesome. Warm them up a little and they are even better. There is no squeal hot or cold but I still hear a faint grinding/moaning noise during braking. Will update more on this. To those interested in getting these pads for the MS3, most of the online site's listing of the EBC Red Stuff pads for our car seems to be the wrong part number. Use the part number from the pics on my box a few post up for the right part number. Better yet, search for that part number online to see if you can find a lower price. I paid $100 shipped for it. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score No, you need to ask for the Volvo S40 T-5 all-wheel-drive or V50 T-5 all-wheel-drive model brake pads. Only these uses the 320mm front brake rotors like ours. They are hard to find even at some the Volvo dealers. $80 to $99 bucks a pop (online about $60 bucks a pop). I have been driving on a set for the past month and a half. Although they are both made by Ferodo the Mazdaspeed 3 pads are definately more aggressive. The Volvo pads feel kind of mushy to me. If you like I can give you the part number so you can search online for a cheaper price. I just don't have the number with me now. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Here is the number. GENUINE VOLVO_30742029_S You don't need the "S". Again I must tell you they are not as grippy as the Mazdaspeed ones. Still they are better than your average brake for normal cars. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score The speed one of course. But of course it is just too expensive. I recommend you buy the Volvo pad online as a backup then try other brand brake pads. That is what I am doing right now. Just follow my guide and order the pads based on the T-5 series S40 or V50. If you try to find pads for the Mazdaspeed 3 you won't get as many results or sometimes they will be the wrong pads (Mazda 3 pads instead of Mazdaspeed 3 pads). I have tried the Volvo, Posi Quiet, and the Hawk HPS. I like the Volvo the best so far. I should be getting a set of EBC Red Stuffs today and I will let you know how they are. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Ok here are the EBC Red Stuff pads. Fits without a hitch. I installed it on 03-25-09. It gets better and better with more miles but just remember the first couple of brakes, it will be pathetic. They do make a little grinding but it seems to have died down. I am hoping it will go completely away with more usage. Will update more as time goes by, I guess. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score I look forward to seeing a follow-up review on these. I recommend them over HPS based on experience with a speed6. They're low-dust and rotor friendly but end-user experience will bring in the final verdict on those claims. Because they're a hard-wearing(?) pad, break-in takes like 1,000mi.

I tried the HPS on previous Mazda 3 and now my Mazdaspeed 3 and I just don't know what the fuss is all about. They just don't seem that good to me. These Red Stuff have way more stopping power than the HPS. Maybe the HP+ will be more of a comparison but I have heard that they squeal a lot so I didn't try it. | |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Not to me it won't cause I used the old fashion high speed brake-drag/cool drag/cool to burn off the special break-in coatings (which is suppose to help clean the surface of the rotor) and bed them in. I have done this in the past with my other brake pads but I would not recommend this procedure for these particular brake pads. Their break-in coatings will cause it to smoke (literally) if you try it. Although it was smoking I didn't really overheat the rotors. It was just the "coatings" burning off. That is why these pads are bedded in nicely now even though it has only been 4 days and about 200 miles. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score As I have just turned/cut my rotors just prior to installing these pads so I did not need the rotor surface to be cleaned by their "break-in" coating. If you are just replacing pads and didn't turn or buy new rotors I guess the break in period would be close to 1000 miles. I look at the coating prior to installing it and it does look like it is thick enough where it will require 1000 miles to burn through it. I should have took a pic of it (the coating). Grrrrrr. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Ok 2nd update. These Red Stuff pads are really good. They have better stopping power than even the OEM pads. Heat them up and they grab like mad. It can take a lot of heat before you will experience any brake fade and even then they recover quickly. Though I think that the OEM is easier to modulate but that might be because I have used the OEM pads for so long. About these pads, their stopping power seems to vary wildly depending on how well the pad and rotor are mated. As I have said, at the beginning they have very little stopping power (to be expected) and now they have great stopping power. Then I took out the pads to have a look at them and maybe clean them. I sanded them down just a little. Back to very little stopping power. It took about 10 to 20 good hard stops to get them to grab good again. I have done this to other brake pads before but it never made this big a difference. I still hear a hint of a grinding/moarning noise but my passengers say they hear nothing. Its no biggie. They do not seem to cause any rotor damage. I still do not know if they dust a lot or not because I have been "trying" the brakes at every stop light. Even then they still seems to dust less than OEM. You may get better result if you didn't cut corners like I did and just grind the break-in coating away within the few minutes. Now, somebody please try a set of Carbotech Bobcats and give his/her opinion. LOL |

| Not Ranked : 0 score They don't eat rotors but they definately do dust. I graded them B before but I will have to demote them to C- for dusting. It didn't dust this much when I first got them so I don't know what happen. I still like them for their braking prowess though and being cheaper in price than OEM. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score I dont care about dust so much (3 coats of wax on the rims ensures a quick wipe-down from dust) but how does braking compare to OEM pads? When cold? Auto-X? Lap days? Fade/heatsoak? Saving $50 is less important than having the best compound.

| Not Ranked : 0 score bump, i also have the ebc reds...and while i don't notice or care to notice dust much either, i must say that i haven't been swayed toward them or their feel in any way; in other words, i wouldn't necessarily buy them again. i've found that the oem brakes are have more bite with light touch, whereas one needs to step harder on these pads for performance. i haven't measured distances stopping, so i won't speak on that. once they bite, they're nice, but i want to try some carbotechs next time. or maybe that axxis shit (or whatever) that jeff was talking about |
