Default Product Ideas thread

Hey guys, I'm going to be working on ALOT of stuff for the speeds and other platforms in the near future. If y'all have any ideas of what you'd like to see, feel free to post up here.

I now have a MS6 at my disposal, and the MZ5 shares soooooooo many components with the MS3, so I've been buzzing with ideas.

The next big projects include, to name a few:

MS3 RMMs
MS6 RMM
MS3 RSB
Oil cooler kits
etc. hehe

I don't see why not. There would be a lot of NVH added with a solid mount though.

There are a few threads around here where people are making lists of things they would want for their cars. Instead of making the same stuff everyone else is making, look at the things no one is making that appear to be popular and make those. If you're going to make something everyone else is, you gotta make it unique, in a way that is better than everyone else or has a feature that improves on what everyone else is making.

I've got some stuff in the works no one has made yet. Plus, I'm not one to make something cause it will sell well. I like working on unique parts, to help expand this platform.

I started doing OCC kits like 4yrs ago, as a hobby, cause no one was willing to put the time and research into it.

Well, I might be working on an oil cooler set-up in the near future. Though, if you do a spin on kit, you can fit some pretty large filters on a MS3 or MS6.

That's my thing - honestly, if I could fit a liter bottle on there, I would. It's perfect for a cooling setup, too, since all that extra oil would take longer to pass through (and have more time to be cooled off.)

There was a mount product I saw on ... Horsepower TV? It was a 'solid,' mount, but it cut down on NVH. Think of a solid mount made of plastic if that makes sense. It was for a LS1 swap into an RX7 if you can find out. I think a lot of people would like that if they're looking for "solid," mounts.

I don't know what filter you're running at the moment, but I'm pretty sure a Purolator L20195(or similar) is the largest you can run with the undertray. Part Detail Popup

You might be able to run a Purolator L30001, but the outer diameter might be too big, and if you hit a curb you're toast lol. Part Detail Popup

I'll definitely look into it. I have an idea in mind, for a pretty low cost option to manufacture.

I would think that even if it were an OCC that had a heat coil built in that could be connected to an external power source, via provided connector, when draining, it would be better than the current options out there. Sorry if I didn't see a thread already on this, it's quite difficult to search for OCC related stuff on here.
I've been doing my research on heating elements for OCCs. Most set-ups I've looked into are similar to block heaters, but they're expensive. I think I can get my hands on some stuff to test out, that would be a fairly low cost option for a heater.

My main issue with heaters are they have to be wired in... unless you tie it into the coolant system, but you'd have to wait for the car to heat up first. I'm a bit weary on customers wiring up something, especially if they're wiring experience is low. Hell, I'm not that great at electrical work.

I'll work with the heaters I'm gonna try, to hopefully make them a pretty much "plug-in" solution.

Also, I have some better drain valves for OCCs that I'll be implementing soon.

hahaha, that would be sweet! Unfortunately, the MZ5 harness cannot easily work with the MS3 harness, so I'll be swapping over the COMPLETE MS3 wiring when I do my MS5.

I'll maybe offer to convert MZ5's to MS5's when I have a shop... but it will not come cheap.

I think I read on your OCC blog at one time that there were thoughts of a heated OCC for us northern guys. I haven't bought one yet (but am planning on it for my spring install), but from reading around the forum it would help out to not have to use a heat gun or a rigged setup to heat it up. I would think that even if it were an OCC that had a heat coil built in that could be connected to an external power source, via provided connector, when draining, it would be better than the current options out there. Sorry if I didn't see a thread already on this, it's quite difficult to search for OCC related stuff on here.

I like the crash bar ideas. Lightweight for the back and really small for the front to provide the room for large core intercooler setups.

YES! For the MS6, though. Opens up the grill for more airflow into the radiator, or lets you put a huge IC core up there.

I thought of another one after having to fuck with my god damn occ and skid plate while in a gas station. I would like an aluminum skid plate with quick release locking fasteners. I don't care what it costs I need one of these for as much as I am under my car in gas stations and freeways. I will probably think of more soon.

Definately a crash bar that would allow for large FMIC cores. Other companies that make them won't sell them seperate from their kits. Something lightweight, preferably not a solid bar so you can add mounts if you need to. I'd rather not have to Mad Max my crash bar in the future if I can help it. And also, cost effective.

- A high quality, secondary oil filter kit for the turbo oil feed line.
- Definitely in on the replacement front crash bar idea for Genpu.
- Coverplate to go over the top of the valve cover, and hide the wiring/plumbing for fmic guys

im late to the thread but ill say this...

We are getting pretty high up there in power on these engines...

Oil cooling and upgraded radiators will sell like butter, so spending the appropriate time in the R&D department for those products would pay off quickly.

You could have no competition, and with easy to install, effective kits, you basically got yourself a huge market.

If you do end up making the valve cover vent restrictor you could sell it as a kit with the oil line restrictor bolt and call the kit the smoking turbo fix kit! (Or sell both with your OCC kit and call THAT the smoking turbo fix kit.)

I've been asking for these for years.... Light weight 2 piece brake rotor set.
Another big throttle body option
MS6 rear difusser
Hardware kits for ATP BT for MS6 guys, like longer coolant lines and oil drain lines.
Larger dia CAI option for the MS6, since we have room for it. The biggest pipe I could fit into our fendwell opening was 3.5"
I know phate was working on them, rear adj spring perches on the MS6
Bigger PTO coolant cooler

Without modifying the lower control arm, and/or modifying the bump stop mount on the subframe, there aren't any good options for converting to a 2.5" ID spring (it's actually not possible). BC/Megan/KW all use an adjustable upper perch that seats a 3.5" ID spring. QA1 makes a few springs that work for us, so we do have non-custom options. I'll go through that in my suspension thread.

BBK, I know you tried to fit Brembos a while ago

I would try solid motor mounts as well, why not.
I want to do all those things! Lots of investment needed though :/

I am definitely planning on doing brake ducts, as soon as it warms up. I already have the components needed for my car, and excellent suppliers to make a low-cost kit for customers.

I do have a really great oil cooler idea in my head. In theory it'll work very well for both track AND street cars. Also, looking at pricing using high quality components, it would be affordable! That was my main concern when I did oil cooler testing long long ago, was that it would be too expensive to sell, and the market for one is still low.

I prefer to inform ppl on if what they are buying would be beneficial, rather than them just buying it to have it. Oil coolers are kind of an example of this. However, a lot of ppl in this thread(including yourself) are doing activities such as tracking and making enough POWAR to where a good oil cooler set-up would do a lot of good. And that motivates me to work on a set-up. When it warms up I will be doing some street testing on my MZ5, then track testing on my MS6.

I have a really low cost idea for a front plate mount. I'm gonna try and draft it up soon, and see what I can do to get that ball rolling. I've hand made a few for friends in the past, and I have one I made on my car.

I have seriously thought about a coolant and oil line set-up for garret turbo guys. I'll make a note to work more on that next week.

Also, I will be doing temp testing on ALL THE FLUIDS! And I have an idea of a PTO cooler in mind I want to try if needed. It sucks when the fluid I'm using is more expensive than the gauges I'm testing it with lol.

I'd like to see Aluminum Lower Control Arms for the front suspension (MS3) that add a couple of degrees of caster.

Here's an example that's for the Golf platform: Supaloy

What about ancillary oil cooling being mounted in place of the TMIC on a Pu that has since switched to an FMIC. It seems, to me, that a vehicle that requires an oil cooler would already be running an FMIC anyway. This way the hood scoop is still serving a purpose.
