But today? At this moment in time? A person would be be crazy to pick anything over this plate.

In fact you would have to have rocks in your head to go with the complete TWM.

This plate offers as much usable reduction as the available short shifters, feels as good or better, and doesn't lower the shifter/knob height (Awful! The one reason I didn't go with the Short Shifter that's available).

.
Whoa bringing the post back to lyfe....but I ditto this. I tried the TWM full replacement and I couldn't handle how hard it was to shift.

I honestly couldn't recommend anything other than this plate to anyone knowing what I know now (I've literally tried every short throw mod except the JBR/CS shifter).

The Ford fluid was better than stock for me too, but I still felt things were too sketchy below freezing temps. The Redline MTL fixed that. Back when my Mustang was still manual, the MTL kept a T-5 transmission alive at over 500whp. It works very well.

The ford stuff got was much better the second winter. Dont know if that is a result of the miles on the transmission or the oil though.

Could be the miles. I still have under 8K miles on my car.

I installed it yesterday, and after a few urban drives, it feels a lot more like I would have expected from the factory. It just tightens it up a little. Just enough, I guess. I don't have any experience with others, but from all reports this looks like the only one that has no complaints from trying to bite off too much. It might feel a tiny bit more notchy, but a lot less sloppy, so I attribute any slightly noticeable notchiness to the transmission itself. Worth every bit of 50 bucks so far.

It's notchy, and much harder shifting on cold start in single Fahrenheit digits. But it's not as though you're performance driving for a LONG time then anyway, and really no major problems. Not a problem getting through until it warms up and loosens up. 8-10 minutes after the "I'm cold" light goes out it's indistinguishable from stock even in negative single digit temps.

Not that the car, or you, are happy on those days! Can't wait for winter to end this year - though not as much as last year. Still, it's been a rough couple years!

I went out on some longer canyon roads and it's even more noticeable goodness. I'm really happy with the improvement. Not a single missed shift and even 5th and 6th seem better to me now, not so far into right field foul territory anymore. It's just much more slick...and just right. Feel is really improved.

Just wait.
You will throw rocks at both of those shift plates after trying the Damond.

Lol this is really pretty crazy when you think of it from a marketing stand point. There have been shift plates on the market forever; I'd say ~60% of the people that are buying these are people who already own a shift plate. Just shows when you make a quality product, especially a low cost modification like this, people will buy it if it it's better.

I did not miss one shift. I already like the feel. Jury is still out cuz I am not running the shifter weight now and haven't adjusted my cable yet. Cable was previously adjusted. It was a bit notchy and the throw is not as short, as previously stated in this thread, but I like the not misshiftin so far.

That's how it was when I had the Jbr weight, Ssp and 88 dogbone. I should have never switched out rmm's. I do have a twm shift knob that is on the heavy side. Still think I need the weight

I've generally found that heavy knob, you'll want to add a weight. With a light weight knob, then no weight. This is just my personal preference. I ran a light cobb knob and a 3" extender on my old 6, with no weight on the SSP, and it was superb.

So does this mean that with the stock weight, a weighted knob will improve feel?

I'm really disliking the little stock knob now, and not sure if it's just the size or a lack of weight, or both...the shifter plate is outstanding though, and if anything I think could use more weight, not less.

If agree. With a heavy knob and small weight, I felt like I had to put the car in gear. I ended putting stock weight on and when I shift it has less resistance and the shifter slides in easier.

Agree with this guy. On the stock weight lyfe; @maisonvi; made me a heavy one that's in a block shape so I didn't fuck up my wiring harness, that was solid as well.

Mine is on the stock weight, and I'm contemplating a Corksport leather knob now too, for perfection.

That is what I have and it seems to be ideal. Heavy knob and stock weight.

Installed Short shift plate - Talk about a great feel. I find sometimes with parts I enjoy the thrill of the install and anticipation of the part going on but am sometimes disappointed with the return it gives me in the fun department. The ssp is something cheap that gives you an instant feeling of change to the car. I love the new feeling of driving my speed. Anyone who does not run this shift plate or any shift plate for that matter get one.

great product, cheap thrills, easssy install. Worth every penny

Already read a few pages of this post and I couldn't pass up this opportunity. I've been reading all the headaches people have with SSP's and this is the first one that seems to be the most balanced. Just ordered it now.

Looking forward to putting it on.

I though the same way as you did. A month ago or so I got the DM SSP in and installed it. It has been amazing. The feel and every thing has been awesome.
