Default 784hp/600tq

Let's make this MSF official @Raider;

Yesterday we had a chance to get @LumberJack; car on the Dyno. After his fresh rebuild we made a few pulls on the street. Made sure motor was broken in (70 miles on her when we hopped on the Dyno) plugs looked mint. No smoke whatsoever, converted her to full e85 and started some tuning. We came on the Dyno with 500hp, a couple hours left with 784hp 600tq and I tried to make the tq curve as broad as possible.

Next order of business is to dial in the alignment and suspension, dial power back to make sure she hooks and then keep bringing it in until we reach the point of breaking traction.

Enjoy!

I think his trap would be too high to ride out fourth.

I hope his trap is too high anyway.

It won't be lol

A 26" tire without accounting for growth expansion under power is 149.xx mph In 4th at 8k rpm

830-850whp which is possible ( I had room left in the turbo ) better weather conditions is approximately 149-151mph assuming it all hooks at my cars new weight

It's actually damn near too long. I'd need substantially more power than I have to utilize that gearing length.

Mine actually just sold, but Bryce is right, they are very long. They're really meant for finishing the 1/4 in 3 gears on a BT very high whp car or finishing in 4 gears on a lowered powered, lower rpm car.

If someone finds a way to make as much power as Bryce AND hold out power to 8500, the gearset would allow 150mph minimum @8500 rpm in 3rd at the track. That was my plan with it, but then part out happened.

Pretty sure the gears being too long would be why he is selling them.

70 miles on the break in? Thought the rule of thumb was no gate cracking until 1k? Full e85? I may or have no have a slight erection.

Idk where that rule of thumb came from. Waiting too long to boost and expand the rings can cause premature failure and blow by. The rings need to seat hard and fast and treated how they're gonna be treated.

With today's honing and cross hatch patterns and ring packs rings are seated within the first 25-30 miles.

I completely understand. I see mixed answers all the time. I can contest to the cross hatch patterns - I am running CPs and totally didnt even realize that depending on the model of the rings - they request a certain hone. Pretty cool IMO.

I guess when I'm all together I'll just have to putt around a little then start driving aggressively.

DID you run a 10 yet? haha

truth.

my current motor has around 7k on it. it saw 15 psi (GTX3071) within 20 minutes of startup at roughly 25 miles. not WOT pulls but 3/4 up to 5k ish. after 10 runs like that, with associated decel, an oil change then it was full on.

As you said, modern motor honing techniques (deck plate, cross hatch, plateau hone) take care of 90% of the "break-in" process. so there really is no break-in required in the traditional sense. i.e. non treated steel rings performing the plateau process. Rings are coated and polished out of the box as well as the cylinder walls.

since then I've run 28-30 psi on a daily tune and never take it easy on the car..lol

my last health check, about 500 miles ago, had compression at 190 across the board with 5-6% leakdown and zero oil consumption.

in the end, there are still varying opinions on the subject but I think if the data were accurately analyzed, it would reveal a trend away from the necessity for a traditional form of break-in. new school vs old so to speak.
