Default Boost Tune Woes

Decided to try the new boost tune OTS maps and so far they are pretty terrible. Debating on going back to the v107 load tune or tweaking this to work.

Getting a lot more random knock while cruising and partial throttle situations.

Getting high partial throttle/WOT cut outs which from my untrained eye look like possible boost cuts at WOT.

It is quite cold outside ~32F so these maps may be struggling.

If the tuning gods could take a look and chime in with some suggestions I would greatly appreciate that.

2 4th gear WOT runs tonight with ambient temps around 32F:

Without looking at your logs I would say this is the same thing I had. I had to reduce my wgdc table. Someone who diagnosed my problem should be able to help you.

That's what I figured. How much do I need to reduce WGDC by? When it's cold I assume I have to have higher values but the temps around here vary from 60 during the day to low 30s at night. I assume its possible to find some sort of balance in this cold weather.

Also can someone chime in on the knock which is a lot more prevalent in the 2nd log. Got as much as 3 degrees on the second run. Will getting the boost closer to target levels help eliminate all this knock that i get?

You need an adjustment to both timing and a little trim with boost but that's not too bad.

Karmat,

You are getting large amounts of wgdc hacked from your table by the wgdc load error comp table.

You can either raise your trl - x gear tables to about .1 above logged calculated load per rpm, or decrease the authority of the wgdc load error comp table.

And just to answer your questions - judging by the KR values, your gas quality is poorer than what that map is set for. So you will likely have to lower timing on the map to deal with it or run a better gas/E85 since it is probably too high across the board. Send me a note if you're looking for a tune.

I had the same issues with those maps, decided to just tweak a v107 map. I'm also a dumbass at tuning.

I would take Lex's suggestions, given you do have some pretty substantial knock in the second log.

Before tuning boost any further, it would definitely be a good idea to back out some timing.

I'm going to flash back the v107 map for now while I finish up the semester and finals. I will have some time during winter break to play around with the v200 maps. v107 didn't give me any problems although the car feels to pull a lot harder with the v200.

Thanks for the input guys.

^^ same boat here.

I have a v108 map that ive been running for over a year. Recently got my firmware updated, loaded the v200 map. butt dyno recorded a substantial improvement, but got some random knock

i couldnt replicate the knock on either load or RPM ranges, so im thinking its just shitty seals or something, but it was there a lot so, I went back to 1.08 maps since I had some track events coming up.... but im currently spending some time on the v200 maps, and im excited to figure the knock out of it.

IMO the OTS V2xx maps still need a lot of tweaking to get right. In my own experience, they seem to be somewhat unpredictable. Part of the problem I've seen with those maps is the huge ramp on the overboost side of the BEC table.
