Default boost tuning, not hitting easy boost targets?

in boost tables, requesting 18.5 psi tapering to 17 at redline.

in reality seeing 14 psi all the way from under 3000, to redline.

Some changes made to OTS map(corksport intake, stage 1 map), but nothing changed in any wastegate tables.

Checked to see if I am hitting boost cut etc, its all plenty high enough in those tables.

and, again, hits targets fine if I load up a load based map.

What am I missing here? Probably pretty simple.

Posting some logs would probably help. Not that I'm any kind of expert but my guess would be your wgdc tables new adjusting.

I agree, what all would you guys like me to log?

or if its just wastegate duty cycles, I can just post the numbers after I do a run. They are stock OTS Cobb stage 1(corksport intake) 93 octane values.

According to the Cobb tuning help, I am not supposed to touch these with a stock turbo and exhaust.

According to some of the great helps on here, I am supposed to even them out and up them a bit. I have just re written a map in ATR to start doing this. Approx 10%-20% higher in the full throttle areas, above 3000rpm.

I will let you know after I flash and drive the car.

Read this guide. It will answer most, if not all of your questions. First rule of thumb before adjusting anything is doing a maf cal. Once you have that dialed in you can worry about adjusting your boost targets and wgdc, afr, etc. I believe it also tells you what paramaters you should be logging as well.

thanx, I will look thru that as well. I have recently done the other guide posted on here with the pictures. Excellent btw.

As for MAF cal, shouldn't it be fine, using the numbers Cobb put out for the Corksport intake? It took several months for them to fine tune that, and I have not modified it in any way.

And looking at my LTFT numbers I am within 1 or 2 either side of 0.

COBB states that if you're ltft are within +/- 8 you're ok. I think the general consensus here is +/- 4. I'm within +/- 2 on my car. Every car is different and there are a number of variables that can cause it to be off (altitude, humidity, temp, etc.) Sounds like you're ok though with the ots calibration.

Post a WOT log.

I'm assuming your base map is the "Stage 1 + Intake + TIH." Are you running the 91 or 93 octane map? It looks like the 91 targets 15.5 psi and 93 targets 16.5 psi.

My guess is either: a) the boost error comp table doesn't have enough authority to adjust WGDC to reach 18.5 psi, or b) you're overshooting the load targets and the ECU is decreasing WGDC. Boost tuning can be funny sometimes, in that load can still have some influence.

That said, no way to really know what's going on without a log.

93 octane map as posted earlier.

ok, I will get a log tomorrow sometime.

I will log boost, wgdc, calc load, TPS, and ??

have read the Abilor one as well as the one with the pictures.

I have made some changes to the map, and will see if the boost is increasing in a manner that makes sense.

Make sure you drive around on the map for about 50 miles before you start going wot. You gotta give the ecu time to learn fuel trims. You should be logging boost, afr, rpm, wgdc, kr, fp, tp, calc load. I'm sure I'm forgetting something

On the AP, just reset the log list to the default parameters. That should give you everything you need to log.

sorry I didn't get back to you all sooner, super busy around here lately...

turns out the research I did showed having a nearly zeroed out boost error compensation table.

This didn't allow the ECU to try to hit the targets being that the wastegate duty cycle was stock with modding via the same reference as the boost error comp table.

I added a few percentages to the WGDC table and it raised the boost. I then added some compensation, up to I believe 10% at either end(both subtracting and adding) and now the ECU can compensate and it hits targets. Its a bit rough still, slightly over and under boosting in places, but I can smooth that out no problem.
