Interesting. My cp-e pump came with a bigger spring presumably for reasons you've articulated. I'll see if I can dig up a side by side comparison pic.

Yep, they did there homework. Springs are on order right now for our pump and they are saying 6 weeks before I have them.

And just how is said cp-e pump working out for you, assuming you have put it on the car already?

Installed this on Cherryspeed's car today and we took pix to illustrate the different size of the pump internals and the spring. Also note the sheen on the upgraded internals. I don't know what APR uses to coat them but it's clearly evident that they do coat their internals.

Has anyone verified the performance of the bypass valve that actually controls the pressure (until the pump runs out of capacity, of course)?

ptp is currently working on this. I think it was very briefly stated earlier in the thread. The thought was that this valve is the primary difference between the hitachi pumps on all the high performance audis and ours.

The pump itself is actually pretty much the same. Dont quote me for accuracy on this one however.

Thanks, missed that one. Have you logged fuel rail pressure on the DashHawk? I haven't gotten any replies on my thread with the posting of fuel pressure and I am wondering if everyone is seeing the same.....

I have an autobox that I am using to log real time pressure with (5vlt signal coverter to pressure). So far the pressure seems to drop off really bad. I am not sure how accurate the dash hawk is and considering that all OBD port tools have anywhere between a .8 to 3.0 second delay in coversion I wanted "real time" readings. I will post more results in our section as we get them. So far there may be an easier fix for those looking for a little more on the stock turbo.

Well auto tech doesnt think we need a different spring. Im interested at this point.

Jon did you ever weigh the retainer on the stock pump? this is intersting. If the retainer is more than 4-5 grams it might concern me.

But Im assuming autotech took this into consideration at some point.. Its not like on a 350 dollar pump they would cut a corner on the spring unless they simply felt like it was unnecessary.

Wow and they use the factory clip. Thats impressive. We are looking into Ti' retainers and locks for ours. This is again to keep the weight down.
