Default VersaTuner v1.9 Released!

VersaTune is proud to announce the release of VersaTuner 1.9. This new release includes the following exciting new features:

All Platforms:

A major refresh of the Tune Editor:
Enhanced user interface
Change tracking
Tune comparison
Table name search
Improved 3d table render manipulation
Table group names with changed tables relative to the selected comparison tune are displayed in bold text.
Tables with changed cells are marked with an asterisk in the table list.
You will be prompted to save a tune with unsaved changes when exiting Tune Editor.

Datalog Autosave – Datalogs now auto save with an automatically generated name based on the current date and time, ie Data log - 11/3/2014 8:36:38 AM. Simply press the space bar to start and stop logging in the dashboard tab. Logs will automatically be saved and the dashboard will remain active after logging stops. We hope this increases the safety of datalogging by eliminating the need to enter and accept a log name.

Mazdaspeed6/Mazda6 MPS, Mazdaspeed3,Mazda3 MPS, Mazda CX-7:

Torque Limit Disable – FINALLY!!! You can now disable all torque limiters, including traction control and torque vectoring due to steering angle sensor (SWAS) input. This feature is enabled via a new check box in Tune Customizer.

Mazdaspeed6/Mazda6 MPS, Mazdaspeed3,Mazda3 MPS:

MegaSpool – A Mazdaspeed/Mazda MPS tuning first. Now even the biggest turbos can be fully spooled at launch. MegaSpool provides configurable timing retard during Launch Control and No-Lift-Shift. This feature is configured in Tune Customizer.

Bug Fixes:

Miscellaneous table axis and label bug fixes.

Fixed a bug in EUDM and AUDM Gen2 Mazda3 MPS Launch Control/No-Lift-Shift which prevented it from activating.

Fixed checksum bug in 2010 AUDM Mazda3 MPS stock ROM.

VersaTuner now refreshes the local tune database listing after new tunes are saved.

General performance improvements – screen load times, etc.

Information and ordering at https://www.versatuner.com

Please tell me you guys will be offering a Black Friday sale. The stutter fix had me on the edge of making the switch from the AP but now I'm ready to jump.

I've been using Megasquirt 3 quite a bit in the past year or so and I love the tune comparatar. Change tracking sounds awesome, can you explain what or how it displays the changes and if tune "notes" are somehow associated with those.

SWAS removal - awesome. Ignition cut LC and FFS - awesome. Not to mention you've had the shift stutter fixed in the MS6's for a long time now...

I'd really like to hear some experiences with these features because they sound great. We're pretty much done racing for the season, here, but I'll likely be making the switch to VT before the start of next season.

-22* works well for stock K04s. I tested all the way to -45*. If you go too far the engine just won't rev. Too little, and it will hit the limiter without building enough boost.

Try -22 or -25 and log it. If you are sitting on the limiter and not hitting the boost level you want, add more retard (more negative). If it's too slow to rev up, add some positive timing (less negative). It's a balancing act between retard and rev limit. When it's right, you should see the boost control solenoid working to control boost with the wastegate while you sit at a comfortable rev limit.

You shouldn't need to use stratospheric LC rev limits any more to get big turbos to spool.

Some porn for ya! =) @phate;

Tune Customizer

Tracking changes; You can see a * before the table name (Speed Limiter - Throttle Close)

Tune Comparing; Table names that are bold have different values between the tunes.
You can also see that the actuall values in the table are also bold (16.67, 10, 33.33, 20, 50, 30).
Current tune can also be compared with OEM and "Since Last Save"

Searchable tables

Added savepage with different design

Better design on the list of logs

VT just became a serious competitor =) And Steve also said that more updates are to come and they will arrive much more frequently

There's a bit of talk going on in another thread and some good topics were brought up @Steve@VersaTune. What can we expect in future updates? Are there fuel scalars for E85?

Also on your website it says that minor updates are free. Does that mean we will need to pay more if a V2 (aka major update) comes out?

I am working on an E-85 How-To right now. If any additional tables are needed, they will be added in the next release.

We have not had a major release yet that we have charged for. We understand that it's a competitive market and we need to continue to provide value to our customers.

Is there anyway that the logg button could be in the car like the subaru sti? They have the rear windshield heater button.

Also if it's possible to add like anti lag system so how to interrupt the spark ignition?

Those buttons are not connected to the ECU. They are connected to the ICM. It would be a LOT of custom code to implement.

Spark cut is very hard on the cats and washes the oil from the cylinder bores. It might sound cool to pop pop pop, but it's hard on the equipment.

MegaSpool gives the spool you want while still starting combustion in the chamber where it belongs.

You might want to put your gtx2867 and other mods in your signature when asking questions like that or they will have a hard time answering

12psi sounds spot on to m

That log does not show MegaSpool active. You should see the negative timing in the log. Did you confirm that MegaSpool is enabled and reflash the ECU after you enabled it?

When it's active, you will know immediately. The engine will sound like it's bogging and will rev very slowly.

You will see the AFR spikes when LC is active because it is using fuel cut. Fuel cut lets air pass through the engine and not get burned with fuel. The O2 sensor picks up that oxygen.

Mazda 6 mps 2006, I'm flashing again, this time I saw the megaspool activated just before the flash button, did not se it last time I flashed, it's about to finish

The clearing any diagnostic trouble codes take much longer time in this version of VT

I think the slow clear DTC process may be a new bug. It may be taking too long to time out on modules that are not present.

Nice before and after.

Before: 5500 RPM 10.9 PSI Boost, 240 g/s Flow

After: 4800 RPM, 27.7 PSI Boost, 325 g/s Flow

That's how you launch an AWD Mazda
Rich990 and leka like this.

It's all about how hard you want to launch. If it's launching too hard, you could lower the rev limit and add a couple degrees positive timing.

May God have mercy on your diff mounts

I have upgraded both diff mounts, front and rear
So if I would like to launch harder, per say I could put more negative degrees like -27 or something?

If you're hitting your load target, you can leave the timing where it is. If you want more boost/load, turn up the load target. You only need to retard timing more if you're hitting the rev limit and not hitting your load target. If it seems like it's taking forever to rev up, you can add some positive timing. You'll have to experiment a bit to get it dialed in for your setup.

Hey man!

There is something I don't understand, I changed the Retard to -24, I tried to lower the Boost building up, and lowered the LC to 4800 from 5200, but i boosted as high as 29 PSI :p

I wanna run like 24-25 PSI

Try -20* and see if that lowers the boost. What is your 1st gear load target at 4500 and 5000?

If you look at the log, you are just under 2.7 load. The ECU will keep the wastegate closed until you hit the load target - between 2.7 and 2.75 in this case. The only way to lower MegaSpool boost without lowering the load target is to add positive timing. Try -20*, then -17* then -14*, etc until you find the sweet spot where you hit the boost/load point that you want to launch at while hitting the LC limiter.

@Steve@VersaTune;

Question about the odbc cable. It appears to be a straight "dongle" are there any options for this to be a right angle similar to the APv3.

With the speed 6 the odbc is extremely close to the peddles and I already worry about hitting it with my clown feet. If it came down further which it looks like the VT cable does it is a bit concerning. Just curious if you are aware of any other quality options for this.

You can get a 90* adapter. Search for J1962 or OBDII right angle adapter on google/amazon/ebay. They're under $10 USD.

I tried with -14* and the boost is 26,5.
Will post a log in 2 min
